Before dawn on the 9th, a fire broke out in a room in a double-decker apartment in Kitami City, Hokkaido, and two people were confirmed dead.

Police are checking the identity and investigating the detailed cause of the fire.

After 3:00 am today, a woman living in a room on the second floor of a double-decker apartment in Hokushin-cho, Kitami-shi, Hokkaido reported to the fire department that "a fire broke out from the microwave oven."



According to police and fire departments, a total of five fire trucks were extinguished, and the fire was extinguished about three hours later, but two women and two of unknown gender were found in the burnt room.



According to police, two people were confirmed dead on the spot.
