Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni condemned the coup in Guinea, calling it a "step backwards", in an exclusive interview with France 24. He said the coup leaders should be punished and "kicked out".

He said his country had accepted the arrival of some 2,000 Afghans on its soil at the request of the US government, brushing aside fears that they might pose a security threat.

He said, however, that the United States had made a mistake in Afghanistan by waging "other people's wars".

He also warned that he could decide to withdraw Ugandan troops from Somalia, the country being plagued by infighting between its leaders, which he called "political AIDS".

Uganda ready to intervene militarily against the ADF

He claimed that the jihadist group that took control of an oil-rich area in northern Mozambique a few months ago was linked to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a Ugandan Islamist group operating in eastern Mozambique. DR Congo.

He announced that he was ready to intervene militarily in this region against the ADF and that he was only waiting for the approval of the Congolese president to move forward.

He also criticized the Rwandan president for closing the border between the two countries two years ago and denied Kagame's claims that he behaved as master of the region.

He lashed out at criticism from international human rights groups like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, accusing foreign powers of interfering in internal affairs.

Finally, he announced that an investigation into the murder of more than 50 protesters during the last presidential campaign in November would be made public and promised that those responsible would be prosecuted.

He has denied being frightened by the prospect of a victory for his main challenger in the election, Bobby Wine.

He added that he was ready to engage with him.
