The "Safar" troupe... From a dark room in Damascus to Dubai Opera

The Syrian band "Safar" will perform a concert at the Dubai Opera Theater, on Friday, September 10, in which it presents a group of diverse and traditional songs redistributed musically.

The career of the Safar troupe began in 1999, when it was called "Muhajireen", until it was renamed "Safar" troupe in 2001. It performed concerts and festivals in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.

The activity of "Safar" stopped from 2004 to 2015 due to the scattering of its members, until the artists Shadi Al-Safadi and Wafi Al-Abbas decided to restructure it again in 2015 to bear a unique artistic identity.

It is noteworthy that the songs of the Safar band received millions of views on YouTube, and, finally, the song “Yawel Willy” from their second album “Experience Number Two” exceeded three million views, and invaded social networking sites due to the circumstances in which it was filmed, where The video clip for the song was filmed without electricity, relying on battery light, and with very simple equipment.

This step was evidence of their adherence to their art and their determination to deliver their song that depicts the reality that Syrians live in to millions.
