The majority of the health ministers of the federal states have spoken out in favor of simpler quarantine rules for corona cases in schools. In principle, in a case, quarantine should no longer be ordered for the entire class association, according to a decision after consultations with the federal government on Monday. The chairman of the state department heads, Klaus Holetschek (CSU) from Bavaria, said that this should be passed on to the health authorities as “guard rails”. The goal is good infection protection and as much classroom teaching as possible. According to Holetschek, the resolution was adopted with two federal states abstaining.

Children who are quarantined as close contacts and have no symptoms should therefore be able to end them with a negative test after five days at the earliest.

The local health authorities should also be able to decide differently in individual cases.

Quarantine orders should generally be issued “with a sense of proportion” and depending on protective concepts with ventilation, tests and the wearing of medical masks.

So far, the countries have dealt with a quarantine period of 14 days differently if an infected student is found in a class.

Sometimes only people sitting next to you are quarantined, sometimes entire classes.

The federal and state health ministers also paved the way for booster vaccinations for people who were vaccinated more than six months ago. For example, in care facilities and other facilities with so-called vulnerable groups, employees should be offered a booster vaccination. According to the decision of the health ministers, this should also apply to people who are in regular contact with infectious people - such as medical staff. After individual consideration, people over the age of 60 could also be considered, whose vaccinations were more than six months ago. The Robert Koch Institute should show the booster vaccinations separately.
