The actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, sacred monster of French cinema, died Monday at his home in Paris at the age of 88. “He had been very tired for some time. He passed away quietly, ”his family wrote in a statement. Born April 9, 1933 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, the young Belmondo grew up in a family of artists. He joined the conservatory in the 1950s and formed a band "to life, to death" with his friends Jean Rochefort, Claude Rich, Bruno Crémer and Jean-Pierre Marielle.
