Sultan Al Qasimi inaugurates “A View of the Spirit.. Gibran Khalil Gibran”

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated this Sunday afternoon the exhibition "A View on the Soul.. Gibran Khalil Gibran", which celebrates the experience of the Lebanese writer, philosopher and plastic artist Gibran Khalil Gibran (1883-1931), in The House of Wisdom in Sharjah.

His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, inspected the pavilions and corners of the exhibition, which highlights the great value of the works of Gibran Khalil Gibran, which was an artistic and cognitive exception in the march of Arab and international culture.

The exhibition will be held in cooperation with the Gibran National Committee and the Gibran Museum, and will continue until January 6, 2022, and constitute a rare opportunity to learn about a wide range of 34 original artworks, including paintings painted in oil and gouache, and others in charcoal, including 15 paintings displayed for the first time.

His Highness stopped in front of the artist's collectibles corner, which includes watercolors and a stand for drawing, along with four manuscript notebooks, including drafts of Gibran's most prominent works, and the book "The Prophet", which is considered the greatest evidence of the intellectual and philosophical achievement achieved by the writer and overcoming language barriers. And culture, as the number of translated editions of it reached more than 100 editions around the world.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah was briefed on the artistic categories of the exhibits, which are views, connections, formation, the study of faces, matter (red chalk), method (perspective) and spirit, each of which presents an aspect of Gibran's work and reveals the techniques he used to complete his paintings.

The exhibition, which is sponsored by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the contribution of the Barjeel Art Foundation, seeks to shed light on the legacy and achievements of Gibran Khalil Gibran and his life, which constituted a special experience, and to introduce his literary and artistic aesthetic project.

After opening the exhibition, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah received a book of unpublished manuscripts by Gibran Khalil Gibran, in addition to 20 paintings and a book of 20 paintings.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association, Chairman of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Minister of Culture and Youth Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Department of Culture Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Chairman of the Protocol and Hospitality Department Muhammad Obaid Al Zaabi, and President of the Sharjah Authority. The book was written by Ahmed Bin Rakkad Al-Amiri, the Lebanese Ambassador to the State Fouad Shehab Dandan, and a number of senior officials, managers and intellectuals.
