  Zhan Zhizhong, born in 1920, was born in Xincai County, Zhumadian City, Henan Province. In July 1953, he died in Cheorwon County, Gangwon Province, on the Korean Peninsula.

He has two sons, the eldest son Zhan Chaoming is 78 years old, and the second son Zhan Chaoyu is 74 years old.

Zhan Baocheng is Zhan Chaoyu's eldest son, and Zhan Qixiang is Zhan Chaoming's grandson.

  In September 2020, the seventh batch of the remains of the Korean Volunteers were transported back to China. Among the remains of the returning martyrs, "Zhan Zhizhong" became one of the identifiable seals.

The staff of the Veterans Affairs Department checked the seals and searched for the descendants of the martyrs by searching historical materials and archive records. In July 2021, they organized Zhan Chaoming and Zhan Chaoyu to participate in DNA information collection and identification comparison, and finally determined Zhan Zhizhong’s Identity and kinship, and invited representatives of relatives to participate in the burial ceremony of the remains.

  "I heard from my grandfather that my grandfather went to participate in the War to Resist U.S. Aid and Aid Korea, and later died on the battlefield, but was never found.   "Before my grandma passed away, I was over 10 years old, and I heard her mention grandpa several times. Generally, grandma would not mention the situation of grandpa. Unless she is in a bad mood, or the child wants to hear the story of grandpa, She will speak." Zhan Qixiang introduced, "I heard that Grandpa and Father said that everyone thought that Grandpa's remains could not be found."

  Therefore, when he learned that his grandfather and his second master were going to conduct DNA identification and comparison, Zhan Qixiang was very excited, "There should be news about my grandfather."

  "My grandfather and my second master are both sick and it is not convenient to move. A sorrow of hometown loess

  Zhan Baocheng and Zhan Qixiang were invited to participate in the eighth batch of Korean Volunteer Martyrs' welcome back ceremony held in Shenyang on September 2 and the burial ceremony on September 3.

  Although Zhan Zhizhong's two sons failed to come to the scene, they arranged for Zhan Baocheng and Zhan Qixiang to bring some hometown.

  "Because grandpa died during the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea. For decades, I brought him some soil from his hometown and put it in front of the tomb so that he could rest in peace." Zhan Qixiang choked.

  "The soil brought from my hometown was handed over to the staff of the Martyrs Cemetery, and their staff put it in front of my grandfather's grave."   The 33-year-old Zhan Qixiang said that he grew up listening to the story of Grandpa.

After returning, Zhan Qixiang will tell the children about the heroic deeds of the grandfather.
