You have returned to acting after time. Has there been a process of adaptation or is this like riding a bike, which is supposedly never forgotten? Yes, I had not been on stage for 12 years. I had acted in the cinema but lately I have dedicated myself to writing scripts and directing short films, video clips, my wonderful documentary that has given me so many joys -among others, those that 'Ara Malikian, a life between the ropes', gave him by receiving the Goya for best documentary film in 2020- and well, to prepare the next film that I will shoot next year if all goes well. The truth is that I have a lot of respect for acting. And it was a little rusty. But the actress had only gone to sleep, had not abandoned me. I don't know if it's like riding a bikeWhat I am telling you is that I premiered yesterday and I enjoyed it again like when I came to Madrid and decided that I wanted to be an actress and I went on stage. I'm being deeply happy, so ... well, let's see where it takes me ... How did the project come about, what interested you about it and what finally convinced you to get into this mess?

Rubén Ochandiano,

creator of this whole matter, he sent me the text and it seemed brilliant, because it highlights all the things in our society that we don't want to look at in the face. And since I'm a bit frustrated, I thought: "What better way than to get into this hole." But the truth of the truth ... is that what seduced me was that Rubén was there, because I think he is an exquisite creator, very sophisticated and with a very peculiar, very acid look. His text exuded quality. And I said to myself: "I don't want to miss this." The play's 'claim' is "an irreverent and wild tragicomedy about the creation of evil and the birth of the monster." Curious to find the allusion to evil, a subject that increasingly generates more literature despite its timelessness. What form does evil take in 'The Relief'? It seems to me that evil is quite a theme, especially at this moment when it seems that they only talk about the good ..., right? -That goodness ...- and it is so irreverent. It's okay to look at other issues too, right? This work talks about the creation of evil. How much the head of the weakest holds until it bursts. How the little evil that we do on others every day accumulates until their own evil comes out, the monster we carry inside each one of us ... although later there are clubs that group many of them around equally monstrous ideas. What scares you the most? Personally, my current unconsciousness scares me a lot. The lack of empathy scares me a lot, the monster of arrogance, the one that does not show that we are all the same, that thing that is happening here, that gets crude with the immigrant, with the foreigner, with the outsider. And the monster of staying dead. I like passionate people. The people who dare to live, and to be, and to look. And to fight for what he dreams and for what he loves. This kind of monster anesthetizes me, oh, it has rotten me. And the stupid one? Professor Carlo M. Cipolla wrote in his laws of human stupidity that there are four types of people: the wicked, the stupid, the unwary and the intelligent. Among the wicked and the stupid, which are worse? Well, in Spain I sometimes think that we are between the stupid and the unwary. Because you have to be very incautious to make according to what decisions and support according to what issues that will determine a fairly mediocre and shabby future for us. So sometimes, when I see political decisions that have to do with culture, health ... I say: "Oh, how unwary, how bad "... And who do you think, of the four groups, is winning the game in Spain? Between stupid and unwary, here we go. Be careful, this country is also full of artists, creators, amazing scientists, of doctors who are making discoveries that will change the course of history. I do not want it to seem like I shit in my country, because it would not be true. Does that unite the real cream to the play cream? The fiction is a writer, screenwriter, theater director ... On the other hand, she is bourgeois, mischievous, social and is very afraid of being judged. There are many of her places where I feel reflected. It has been difficult to get closer, because there we are very different, it is that the Cream on the stage is a character crossed by panic, by a vital, great panic.I have other neuroses, but not this one. That is why this summer I had to reconnect with the things that scare me very much, in order to get closer to the character. The play addresses issues such as the emptiness of the thoughtful discourse. Are we living in a time of ideological frivolity? We live in a time where the very search for happiness produces a very high level of unhappiness. You have to be happy, you have to be healthy, you have to be well, eat kale, quinoa, drink kombucha, you have to have a yacht, go out on Instagram with the best skin, on the most exotic beach and ... uf, how exhausting it was ', no? It seems to me that in this constant search for happiness, well-being, we forget to live, to be who we are, with the right to make mistakes, mistakes, fat, ulcers and stretch marks. What a joy to be able to relax for five minutes being who you are,no? Yes, we live in a society with a very high level of frivolity. Is there also a frivolous feminism? Everything and nothing can be frivolous. And in the case of feminism, it also depends on what it is for you. The one I defend would never be frivolous because it is absolutely necessary. Until we get to real equality, feminism will be necessary. Of course, as in everything, under the same word personal, crazy, extremist causes are lined up ... And a frivolous antiscientificism? When Miguel Bosé and other artists feel the need to publicly exhibit their alternative stance on a topic such as a lethal virus, what goes through your head? The work also talks about this, that it seems that one adheres to all causes and is a scientific, anti-vaccine, pro-vaccine, animalistic, anti-racist spokesperson ...I sometimes wonder how coherent and real and how opportunistic and pamphleteer there is in that. And that saying of ours of 'shoemaker to your shoes' comes to mind. I decide not to make causes my way of expression. My way of expression is the theater and the cinema. Everyone knows where they want to exist. Returning to the path that leads to the inner emptiness and the lie that is addressed in the work, is it reversible? Or should it be entrusted to future generations? Well, I don't know, because what a world is getting left for them ... It seems to me that emptiness is the first of the existential reasons of the human being. I think we live our whole lives until we get old to try to understand that emptiness and not to destabilize us. And each one has its own formulas, right? I do theater to fill that gap. Or write. Or express.Others play sports. Others go crazy and travel the world. I do not know. That emptiness is what the enlightened say that when you can handle it is because you have understood life. Friends, are they no longer what they were? Are we, like in the play, groups of people who think they know each other but nanai from China? I am not much of living in the past, I prefer to live in the present and I have the theory that all good is yet to come. In my case, I also have to tell you that I have some friends. My friends are my family, the one I chose. I hardly ever attend social events, the kind where we all scratch each other's backs and do each other favors ... I have few friends, they count on the fingers of a stump, and they are pfff ..., top.Any new projects linked to Ara Malikian? Has (you) already said everything that could be said about him? I have 79 hours of footage left at home that I did not edit [laughs]. I always say: if someone wants them, here they are. I'm not going to tell this story anymore because this story is alive! And I hope that one day my son or whoever will tell it. If it has to be done. I told the part that I honestly thought I could tell. A story linked to willpower, with music as a common thread and a way to save his life. I am always linked to Ara, we create many things together, we talk all the time about our creations. We will always be creating together, if life leaves us, because the truth is that it is a joy to be able to sit down with an artist of those dimensions and create universes. And I hope that one day my son or whoever will tell it.
