The prefecture of Pointe-à-Pitre denounced Friday the call of a local collective for the “deportation” of the prefect of Guadeloupe, Alexandre Rochatte, whom he accuses of poor management of the health crisis.
The prefecture, which canceled a meeting scheduled for Friday with this association, specifies having reported to the public prosecutor's office these "particularly insulting and inappropriate statements", which also target the director of the Regional Health Agency (ARS), Valérie Denux, and the rector from the academy, Christine Gangloff Ziegler.
This meeting was announced following the irruption of members of this association, Moun Gwadloup, in a secure area of Pointe-à-Pitre airport on Tuesday.
Faced with a still "serious" health situation due to Covid-19, the government has decided to postpone the start of the school year in the West Indies to September 13.
Guadeloupe is particularly struck by the Covid with an incidence rate of 1,822 cases per 100,000 inhabitants observed on August 20.
Broken negotiations
"By referring, voluntarily and in full consciousness, to the darkest hours of our history, the members of this association have affirmed their desire to reject any prospect of peaceful exchanges", indignant the prefecture in a press release published on Friday.
The Moun Gwadloup collective, very present on social networks, denounces the management of the health crisis by the authorities, resorting to be heard through punches such as the occupation of the airport.
These remarks on the deportation of the prefect "would have been uttered during the negotiations following this illegal occupation" of the airport, according to the prefecture.
