The security of the population is essential for the government of Emmanuel Macron.

This is why the police will be able to travel for free in the trains of the SNCF network from January 1, 2022. An agreement was concluded this week with the company, announced Friday the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin.

A security measure

On Twitter, the politician welcomed a "win / win partnership to better secure trains and make the lives of our police officers".

The agreement concluded with the SNCF provides that "the journey between home and work is free for the police, if they are armed and if they report to the captain," the minister's entourage told AFP.

The price of the ticket will be covered by the ministry.

Free for business trips but not only ...

For non-professional trips, the police will only have to pay 25% of the ticket price from 2022. This amount will be "compensated for by SNCF vouchers, usable for his family for example," explained the entourage. .

From 2023, this type of trip will also be free, on condition, again, to be armed and to report to the skipper.
