September 3 is the 76th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
A memorial ceremony was held in the Memorial Garden of the Hong Kong City Hall that morning.
The whole ceremony lasted about 10 minutes. The attendees included Liang Zhenying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Zhang Juneng, Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
After the ceremony, the national flag was raised and the national anthem was played. Then the Hong Kong police rifle honor guard fired 21 shots to pay tribute to the heroes who contributed to the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan. All the people attending the ceremony mourned for two minutes.
Carrie Lam then led representatives of various sectors to bow to the heroes in front of the memorial niche.
