  After following up the investigation, customs officers arrested a 35-year-old woman suspected of being involved in the case in Fanling on August 31.

Currently, the case is still under investigation, and the arrested woman is currently on bail pending further investigation.

  Senior Supervisor of the Customs Drug Investigation Division, Li Jinrong, said at a press conference that before the epidemic, Haiwei seized approximately 2 tons of drugs in 2019, but after the epidemic, it has cracked a number of large-scale drug trafficking cases. In the first half of 2020 alone, 1.6 tons of drugs have been seized. In half a year, 1.8 tons of drugs were seized, and nearly 3.5 tons of drugs were seized throughout the year.

In the first eight months of this year, the number of drugs seized rose to more than 2.6 tons.

In terms of drug trafficking methods, the number of drug trafficking by air has slowly fallen, while the number of drug trafficking by sea has an upward trend.

  According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in dangerous drugs is a serious crime. Once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of 5 million yuan and life imprisonment.
