Already implemented in large cities, particularly in Paris or Marseille, differentiated traffic based on the Crit'Air sticker is also arriving in the Alpes-Maritimes.

The prefecture of the department announces this Friday that motorists in Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Vallauris, Cagnes-sur-Mer and Saint-Laurent-du-Var will be subject to it from the next “intense pollution episodes”.

These six municipalities "are the most affected" by ozone peaks, according to state services.

This measure, whose stickers can be ordered on www.certificat-air.gouv.fr, "aims to limit the circulation of the most polluting vehicles", according to the prefecture.

Vehicles stamped 1, 2 or 3 and clean vehicles can circulate everywhere.

Those classified 4 and 5 and the others not classified will not be authorized to circulate in the perimeters of restriction between 6 am and 8 pm.

Differentiated traffic can be activated in addition to lowering the maximum authorized speeds by 20 km / h or even limiting road traffic for heavy goods vehicles in transit.

In this case, alternative measures could also be implemented such as carpooling, teleworking or the adaptation of working hours.
