The cause of the destruction of a semi-detached house in Upper Bavaria was, according to the investigators' first findings, probably a gas explosion.

The police announced on Friday.

Investigators also confirmed a report that a gas cylinder was found in the burned-out car that had been involved in an accident, which was reported to the address of the exploded house and in which a person was killed shortly after the explosion.

A police spokeswoman said that the great force of the detonation in the house implied a gas explosion.

The house had gas heating.

On Thursday, at least one gas bottle was recovered from the rubble.

This was still intact.

The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been clarified.

The explosion had destroyed a semi-detached house in Rohrbach an der Ilm (Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district) on Thursday.

A married couple is still missing - a 55-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman.

Three other people who lived there were not at home at the time of the explosion, according to police.

In the other half of the semi-detached house, which was also badly damaged, two people were slightly injured.

Another mystery is a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Thursday at 12.50 p.m., around 20 minutes after the house exploded. On the B300 in Schrobenhausen, 30 kilometers away, a car drove into an oncoming truck, the driver of which was seriously injured. The car was reported to the address of the house that had exploded. There was a gas bottle in the car, as the police confirmed on Friday. The “Donaukurier” reported on this first. One person died in the car, the body burned beyond recognition, according to the police.

The house was searched for missing persons on Friday. But it is unclear whether the missing couple was even in the house. Person search dogs were on site on Thursday, but they did not hit. Now corpse detection and incendiary detection dogs are in use. The body tracking dogs did not initially strike, but had not yet got into all parts of the completely destroyed house.
