[Explanation] On September 2, a special physical class was held in the classroom of Fengxi No. 1 Primary School in Sheung Shui, Hong Kong.

In class, students in Shenzhen and Hong Kong can listen to lectures, hand in homework, raise their hands to answer questions, and even start school tests at the same time.

[Live Show] Hong Kong Class + Shenzhen Class

The geographical location of the country, do any students know, where is Hong Kong in China?

Have you seen raise your hand, has anyone seen it?

The bottom is right, I heard some students say that they are in the south.

[Explanation] Since the beginning of 2020, customs clearance has been restricted due to the impact of the epidemic. More than 27,000 Shenzhen-Hong Kong cross-border students who "live in Shenzhen and study in Hong Kong" were forced to bid farewell to Hong Kong campuses and classes. They continued to attend 3 semesters, 16 months of online classes.

Zhu Weilin, principal of Fengxi No. 1 Primary School in Sheung Shui, Hong Kong, said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency that more than 300 students in the school are cross-border students, accounting for about 40% of the total number of students in the school.

In order to protect the source of students and the interests of students, he had a whim, co-organizing "online classes" with Shenzhen educational institutions familiar with Hong Kong's education system. Shenzhen and Hong Kong cross-border students can wear school uniforms at the same time and watch real-time live broadcasts of Hong Kong classes at partner institutions.

Because of the relationship between the two cameras, we can also see our physical classes in the Shenzhen class. Everyone can be more kind, have a sense of belonging, have a strong interaction between classmates, and is easy to manage, so we thought we needed ways to help classmates. I went to class together, so I thought that apart from the physical classes in Hong Kong, we all hope that there will also be “physical classes” in Shenzhen, which will improve (learning) effectiveness.

[Explanation] Zhu Weilin's "strange trick" also attracted the curiosity of many students in the school. They all expressed that in this special way, they were really happy to see the familiar faces again.

I miss them very much, I am very happy to see them, and want to hug them, but I still don’t hug them because of the epidemic.

I will miss them very much when I see my classmates, because since the outbreak of the epidemic, classes have been suspended for a long time. During the suspension, I cannot attend classes at home or play with my classmates. I miss my classmates very much.

[Commentary] Zhao Zhicheng, a classmate in Shenzhen, met his Hong Kong classmates again through an "online class" method. He expressed his happiness and excitement.

I feel very happy and excited. One is that I can go to class, and the other is that I can meet, chat and play with classmates.

[Explanation] According to Zhu Weilin, the organizers of Shenzhen "online classes" cooperate through bidding. Shenzhen educational institutions will arrange faculty and staff to take charge of the classroom order. In addition, teachers with qualifications from the mainland will be on-site to answer students’ questions. Students can Communicate with neighbors and discuss in groups, and have the opportunity to make friends during a break.

[Commentary] In this regard, the reporter interviewed Zhou Jianfeng, the person in charge of the Shenzhen "Internet Class".

He told reporters that the Fengxi No. 1 Primary School in Sheung Shui is not alone. At present, many schools near Shenzhen adopt the model of "teaching in Hong Kong and teaching in Shenzhen".

In fact, our center currently has more than 20 classrooms. We only use half of the classrooms. On average, there are 10 people in a classroom. According to this figure, there are about 120 students who come to class in the morning. There is also a class at Li Xianhui Middle School in Fanling. We also have a class, which is slightly less like other primary schools. Now it is mainly students from Fengxi No. 1 Primary School and other middle schools.

[Commentary] Zhu Weilin said that he hopes that the Hong Kong Education Bureau and all sectors of society can put in more support, so that under the epidemic, Hong Kong students in both places can get their due study and life.

The enlightenment of "online classes" is that we have to face the difficulties and grasp the opportunities to change the difficulties, but we also hope that the industry and the Education Bureau can provide more support and support so that our Hong Kong students will be able to attend classes here (Hong Kong). Or classmates in Shenzhen, they can be properly taken care of.
