So, the very “successful” war in Afghanistan, which lasted 20 years, ended with an even more “successful” withdrawal of American troops from this country.

As in any other conflict provoked by the West, hundreds of thousands of civilians are forced to leave their homes, becoming refugees.

In recent history, this applies to Iraq, and Syria, and Libya, and, of course, Afghanistan.

Despite the fact that the main character of the endless war with the Taliban * was the Americans, let's remember which countries participated in the intervention over these 20 years.

In addition to the United States, these were: Canada, Great Britain and Australia;

France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey and other countries.

Of course, it’s very convenient to wash your hands and say “it didn’t work out”, but what about people left to the mercy of the victors in this conflict?

The Americans removed a relatively small number of Afghans who collaborated with them.

Of course, not all of them.

And the European Union has shown its cynicism with all certainty.

It turns out that European countries have drawn conclusions from past migration crises and will no longer allow the influx of refugees into their territory.

Let, they say, they are accepted by neighboring states, and we will provide them with all kinds of support.

Actually, we remember the support that these countries provided to Afghanistan.

It was another crusade of democracy with the help of military incursions, cruise missiles and "pinpoint" drone strikes, from which far more civilians died than the Taliban or other terrorists.

But your shirt is closer to your body.

Europe has never been able to digest the people who fled the civil war unleashed by the US and NATO.

I could not assimilate them and integrate them into my life.

So it is much easier to close our borders and repeat the thesis of the Americans, declared to Mexican illegal immigrants: “Don't come.

Stay where you are. "

So what are poor people to do, whose expectations have been so recklessly deceived?

It would be logical to load a thriving European economy with shelter and support for Afghans left alone with the Taliban.

This is how responsible behavior and real admission of one's mistakes look like.

Of course, we will not wait for such an attitude of the EU countries.

Small states accepted a small number of refugees, and the same Lithuanians, with the help of the Poles, fenced off from the Afghans who reached Belarus, barbed wire and poison them with dogs.

Enlightened democracy does just that today.
