The association "Vivre aux vignes", which manages a residence for the elderly in Grenoble (Isère), will receive aid of 25,000 euros after a fatal fire occurred two weeks ago.

On August 16, a 92-year-old resident was killed in the fire in his apartment, recalls France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes on Tuesday.

Touched by the tragedy suffered by the structure which offers an alternative to retirement homes to its seniors, Olivier Véran had asked the Regional Health Agency to intervene.

This is done with the release of this grant.

A unique project in the department

"Vivre aux vignes" has created a residence that offers inclusive housing to the elderly, with the presence of carers.

The place, which accommodates sixteen people, is unique in Isère.

The residents affected by the disaster of August 16 were relocated to an nursing home pending the end of the work.

"We are very grateful for this help which will enable us to cope", reacted to France 3, the administrator of the association.

But he remains worried: if the work takes too long, the establishment will have to face financial worries.
