On the morning of September 2, local time, the handover ceremony for the remains of the eighth batch of Chinese People’s Volunteers in South Korea was held at Incheon International Airport in South Korea.

Chang Zhengguo, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of China, led the Chinese delegation to attend the ceremony, and South Korea’s Deputy Minister of Defense Park Jae-min led a South Korean delegation to return the remains of Chinese soldiers to attend the ceremony.

In the morning of the same day, representatives of China and South Korea signed the handover letter on the spot, confirming the handover of the remains and related relics of 109 Chinese People’s Volunteers in South Korea.

The Chinese ambassador to South Korea Xing Haiming covered the national flag on the coffins of the volunteers. The Chinese side held a memorial ceremony. The Chinese People's Liberation Army salutes escorted the coffins to the PLA Air Force plane. The heroes of the martyrs will return to the motherland and the embrace of the people.

  At the handover ceremony, Chang Zhengguo stated that China and South Korea have followed humanitarian principles, in a spirit of frank friendship and pragmatic cooperation, and have jointly implemented the handover of the remains of the Chinese People’s Volunteers in South Korea for 8 consecutive years, bringing the remains of 825 martyrs back to their homeland.

Especially under the situation of the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in the past two years, China and South Korea have paid more efforts to successfully complete the handover of the remains of the volunteers.

China appreciates the efforts of relevant departments and staff of South Korea. China will further deepen friendly cooperation and exchanges with South Korea, actively promote the protection of the remains of the Chinese People's Volunteers in South Korea, so that more volunteer martyrs will return to the motherland as soon as possible.
