Many motorists were victims of a parking meter failure in Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines) this summer.

For several days in August, they were therefore wrongly fined by municipal police officers who were unaware of the non-functioning of parking meters, reports Le Parisien.

Fines in the amount of 25 euros were therefore issued, wrongly.

But today, the town hall promises to be conciliatory towards the unjustly verbalized drivers: "We do not yet know how many there are, even if, at this time of the year, we do not expect a lot of people" , indicates to the Ile-de-France daily Luc Santini, deputy mayor in charge of roads and town planning.

The elected official specifies that the municipality can directly manage disputes related to the FPS (post-parking package).

A bug related to the change of service provider

The breakdown of parking meters would be due to a change of service provider in recent weeks, for the management of the 3,160 parking spaces available in the city.

A computer bug would therefore have impacted the machines for a fortnight.

Without it being relayed on the website of the town, according to an elected opposition.

For his part, Luc Santini explains that in the event of another breakdown of this kind, it suffices to affix his blue parking disc to avoid a fine.
