After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March this year, Morgan said on the British television program Good Morning Britain that he did not believe a word Meghan Markle said - including statements that she was suicidal.

Meghan Markle and about 50,000 others submitted complaints to the ITV channel and Morgan left his job after storming out of the studio when he was questioned for his attitude.

The authority Ofcom, the British equivalent of the Review Board, now says in a statement that it seriously considers questioning that someone was suicidal, but that Piers Morgan was rebuffed by colleagues and that the statement was thus put in context.

The rules allow individuals to express strong opinions, even if they could potentially cause harm or be deeply offensive, according to Ofcom.
