At the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station of Tokyo Electric Power Company in Niigata Prefecture, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission promptly took a picture taken by on-site inspection for the purpose of strengthening counter-terrorism measures, based on the fact that there were a series of deficiencies in counter-terrorism measures. We have decided to introduce a system to share and respond to the situation from next spring at the earliest.

At its regular meeting on the 1st, the NRA discussed the budget request for next year's budget.

Among these, the TEPCO Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant decided to introduce an initiative to strengthen the inspection system, considering that since March last year, there have been a series of serious deficiencies in counterterrorism measures and the subsequent measures have been insufficient. ..

Specifically, if a local inspector suspects that the measures are inadequate during an on-site inspection of the nuclear power plant, the information such as video and audio will be taken with the staff with specialized knowledge at the Nuclear Regulatory Agency in Tokyo. We will promptly share and take necessary measures.

It plans to build a highly confidential network for sharing captured video and audio, and has included more than 1.6 billion yen in the budget request for the next fiscal year as a necessary expense.

In addition, the Regulatory Commission plans to increase the number of inspectors specializing in counterterrorism and enhance training to learn the latest methods of terrorism, and plans to start introducing a new inspection system as early as next spring.
