Investigators said that two office workers in Osaka were arrested and prosecuted for stealing a luxury car in a new way to operate the engine by illegally accessing the computer installed in the car using special equipment. I found out by interviewing.

Two people were arrested and prosecuted: Atsuyuki Go, a 38-year-old office worker in Sakai City, Osaka, and Keiichi Kojima, a 43-year-old unemployed defendant in Saitama City.

In February, he was accused of stealing the luxury car "Lexus" by illegally accessing the computer installed in the car at a parking lot in Chiba prefecture using a special device.

It seems to be a method of intervening in a signal called "CAN signal" that starts the engine or locks the door, and is called "CAN invader" by experts familiar with car security.

In response to the investigation, Mr. Sato stated, "I bought a device from an acquaintance around February. I was able to shorten the time to steal."

The Hyogo Prefectural Police and others have seized the equipment that seems to have been used for the first time, and are proceeding with the analysis and investigating the acquisition route.

The defendants' group has been stealing luxury cars all over the country for five years, and police are investigating that the total damage will amount to about 1 billion yen.
