Food delivery services have become one of the most important services in recent times, and have become outperformed by their necessity over many services. Rather, they have become vital, and have a top priority for many people. home, and this is a good and important thing and there is no dispute over it.

But in return for this service, and for this advantage provided by food delivery companies, the latter began to feel its importance, and the necessity or inevitability of its presence to all parties, to restaurants and food stores, and to consumers of all groups and nationalities in society, and subsequently began to act out of strength, And she began to take advantage of this sudden demand for her services, which in turn led to her great expansion in the scope of work, and the rise in her profits continuously, which made the greed for more profits run in all her plans, taking advantage of the urgent need for her, and the lack of an alternative to her services!

These companies, which only make an effort to deliver orders, charge 30% of the price of each invoice you deliver, and some of them recently raised this percentage to 35%, in addition to another delivery amount, added to the invoice, and paid by the customer or customer, although they provide this Simple service with minimal capabilities and cost, as it only needs a worker and a motorcycle, and nothing else, and does not incur any other expenses, unlike restaurants that incur high operating costs, and then lose 35% of each bill for the benefit of these companies, I think that there is no justice at all in This equation!

There must be intervention, and the market cannot be left like this without supervision. The matter is like exploitation, and it is like monopoly, and the matter has nothing to do with supply and demand and the capitalist market. Companies are free to control prices, harm the interests of people and restaurants and exploit them.

New York City, and a group of American cities, took a decision to reduce the value of the commission received by “HOME DELIVERY” companies by an average of 7%, based on the background that these applications have taken advantage of the period of the “Corona” pandemic, and raised the rate of their commissions on restaurants, which affected highly in this sector.

And the application companies related to food delivery to homes, had claimed that this was a temporary measure, due to the conditions of the pandemic, but they approved the matter, and considered the fees they charged were legitimate, and that they were due.

A few days ago, New York City decided to divide the 23% commission received by food delivery companies into 15% in return for delivery services, 5% in return for any additional services, such as marketing, and 3% in fees for covering purchases.

In justifying the decision, the municipality said, “We are not here to empower companies with billions of dollars and their investors to get richer at the expense of restaurants!”
