After the disillusionment of the day before and

the defeat in the semi-final against Japan

, Senegal was keen to redeem themselves and end the competition on a good note.

In any case, the desire was felt from the start of the meeting which started off on a roll.

The first third time ended with a score of 3-3 thanks to goals from Sylla (3rd), Diatta (9th) and Diagne (10th), the hardest part therefore remained to be done but the Indomitable Lions seemed to be much better returned to the game the day before.

Especially since just after the return from the break, they took the advantage thanks to a new goal from Ninou Diatta (13th) before Papa N'Dour came to drive home two minutes later.

Unfortunately, the Senegalese could not hold the match and the Nati returned to 5-5 in the 21st minute.

The expulsion of Mamadou Sylla in the 22nd for two minutes following a yellow card for a foul was undoubtedly the turning point of the match because Noël Ott did not fail to convert this free kick into a goal, to allow his team to take the lead for the first time in the game at 6-5.

Hope then the hammer blow

The rest of the meeting will prove to be much more locked since it took more than 10 minutes to review a goal.

The Senegalese have also stumbled on numerous occasions against the Swiss goalkeeper, Eliott Mounoud, author of a huge performance with to his credit a double, by scoring the second and the fourth goal of his team.

🇨🇭 And Hop, bronze for Switzerland!

It was finally a realization of Mandione Diagne at the end of the third third time that gave hope to secure third place from the men of Oumar Sylla by coming back to 6-6.

However, the Swiss reaction was not long in coming and one minute later, the Helvetians regained the advantage with a goal from Glenn Hodel in the 34th before weighing down the mark two minutes later still by Hodel who was offered a hat-trick.

At 8-6, Ninou Diatta reduced the score with a third goal for him in this game.

But the red card received by Diagne in the 36th and the penalty scored in the wake by Ott sealed the fate of Senegal who will have to be content with a fourth place.

The Lions therefore end at the foot of the podium, but this is nonetheless historic for the reigning African champion who had so far never passed the quarter-finals in the World Cup.
