Abu Maryam is unable to renew his children’s health cards

The Pakistani (Abu Maryam) is unable to renew the health cards of his three children at an amount of 8,190 dirhams, as they suffer from thalassemia, and are undergoing treatment at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, but they cannot continue to receive treatment due to the expiration of the cards, and he appeals to philanthropists to help him pay the cost of renewing health cards for his sons.

(Abu Mariam) tells his story to "Emirates Today", saying: "I have lived in the country for 40 years, and my eight children were born and raised on the state's land, and I did not suffer from any problems at all in social or living life, as I have three sons, who were diagnosed in Tawam Hospital in Al Ain said that they suffer from thalassemia, and according to the doctors, they need monthly medications for life, and this is very expensive for my modest financial capabilities.”

He added: “In order for my children to receive appropriate treatment, their health insurance cards must be renewed, which costs 8,190 dirhams, and this amount exceeds my modest financial capabilities, as they need continuous reviews in the hospital, and in the event of stopping their treatment, their health may relapse, Their situation is further exacerbated, and it is worth noting that the renewal of health cards includes members of my family.”

He pointed out that "I have a family of nine people, and I am the sole breadwinner for them, and I work in a private entity with a salary of 4000 dirhams per month, of which 30,000 dirhams go annually to rent housing, and from it to school fees for my children and other life obligations."

He explained: "I have previously submitted requests for assistance from charitable associations and institutions in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, but unfortunately I did not receive any response, so I appeal to good people and people of compassionate hearts to help me pay the costs of renewing health insurance cards for my children."

Thalassemia disease

Thalassemia, also called “Mediterranean anemia”, is genetic and affects red blood cells, and it spreads in the Mediterranean region. The infection is the result of a genetic defect, which causes chronic anemia, a disease that may cause death in infected people Because of its great impact on the blood-making process, and hemoglobin in red blood cells is unable to perform its function, which causes genetic and chronic anemia that affects children in their early stages, as a result of receiving two defective genes, one from the father and the other from the mother.
