Michel-Edouard Leclerc asked, this Friday, "the end of the sanitary pass in large shopping centers" of more than 20,000 square meters, imposed since August 16 in the departments where the incidence rate exceeds 200 per 100,000 inhabitants on one week.

"If the sanitary pass is not intended to be generalized, (...) I ask for the end of the sanitary pass in large shopping centers, because it does not play its role, today, of teaching", declared the president of the strategic committee E.Leclerc at the microphone of RMC / BFMTV.

He proposes "either the elimination or the generalization" of the health pass to all businesses without distinction.

Continuation of the “support system” for traders

Michel-Edouard Leclerc assures us that the device of the sanitary pass is difficult for consumers to understand: “The consumer is not informed, traders cannot advertise to say [if they control the sanitary pass] since it is is based on evolving indicators, it is the prefects who decide, ”he regrets.

Tuesday, the administrative court of Versailles suspended an order of the prefect of Yvelines making compulsory the health pass in shopping centers, on the grounds that it prevented access to essential goods to people who do not have them.

Requests for interim relief are underway in other departments.

Michel-Edouard Leclerc also calls for the continuation of the “support system” for traders “with partial unemployment, etc.”

because it has a big impact ”.

Commodity inflation

The Chairman of the Strategy Committee E.Leclerc also referred to “inflation on commodities”.

"We are told of increases in refined sugar of 10%, on pasta by 23%, on cold meats between 9 and 15% (…), on vinegar 15%, on olive oil 11%" before annual trade negotiations, he detailed, regretting "the speculation on a lack of availability of wheat and corn".

This price increase should however be negotiated before being felt by the consumer: "we are not going to let this recovery in consumption be blocked by a few speculators", he assured.
