The Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA) sent this summer a warning to CNews, pointing out "the lack of diversity of the points of view expressed" in the program of Pascal Praud around a controversial military platform, according to a decision released Friday.

Alerted by viewers, the audiovisual regulator looked at a sequence of "The hour of the pros" broadcast on April 26, a few days after the publication in Current values of a text against "the disintegration" of the France signed according to the weekly by "more than a thousand" soldiers, including "twenty generals".

Zero shade

The flagship presenter of CNews, Pascal Praud, had devoted his editorial to this column, at the origin of a lively controversy in the political class, before giving the floor to its instigator, the former officer Jean-Pierre Fabre-Bernadac .

Surrounded on the set by the former executive of RN Jean Messiha, the publicist Jacques Séguéla, the founder and editorial director of Causeur, Elisabeth Lévy, and the deputy national secretary of the independent union of police commissioners, Matthieu Valet, Pascal Praud also reacted MEP RN Gilbert Collard.

In a decision adopted at the end of July and published on its site on Friday, the CSA recalled that the channel had to ensure "respect for an honest presentation of controversial issues, in particular by ensuring the expression of different points of view by journalists, presenters, hosts or on-air collaborators ”.

A "statement confirmed" by a new evoation on May 3

"Given the controversial nature of the remarks made by the author of the debated forum, the Council considered that the lack of diversity of the points of view expressed by the participants on the set contravened this obligation", he explained. .

A "finding confirmed" by a new evocation of the platform on May 3 "by the same speakers (except Matthieu Valet) and in comparable terms", adds the audiovisual policeman.

This is not the first time that the news channel of the Canal + group, controlled by billionaire Vincent Bolloré, has been called to order by the CSA.

In addition to another warning for clandestine advertising, CNews received a formal notice in June, a more severe warning, for having given too much voice to the RN candidate running for the regional elections in Ile-de-France.

In March, the CSA fined the channel 200,000 euros for "incitement to hatred" and "violence" after comments last year by its polemicist Eric Zemmour on unaccompanied minor migrants.
