Lil Nas X will release his debut album on September 17.

The record is called


and contains fifteen songs, the 22-year-old rapper reports on Instagram on Thursday.

"Making this album was like therapy for me," Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, wrote in the announcement.

"I've learned not to worry about who people think I am, what I can do and where I'm going. I now realize that the only opinion of me that really matters is my own."

Lil Nas X broke through in 2019 with the single

Old Town Road

, which reached number one worldwide and was awarded a Grammy.

He then released the successful EP



This year, the rapper once again reached the top of the international charts with the hits

Montero (Call Me By Your Name)



with Jack Harlow.
