They arrived Wednesday evening in Loire-Atlantique.

Some 88 Afghan people, mainly families, were welcomed in Loire-Atlantique following the evacuation operations from Kabul, announces the prefecture of Loire-Atlantique.

An accommodation and medico-social system has been put in place "thanks to the mobilization of State services, local elected officials and local associations financed by the State (France Horizon, Federation of secular works of 74)", specifies the prefecture.

Individual support, which this evening on the physiological and material level, is also offered.

"Accelerated procedures have been activated to issue visas to third-country nationals, after the necessary checks and with the aim of guaranteeing internal security," adds the prefecture.

Several communities are doing the same

Initially, the 88 Afghans will be accommodated in a holiday center in the town of Piriac-sur-mer, near La Baule.

Since the first evacuations in mid-August linked to the Taliban seizure of power, more than 2,000 Afghans have been transferred and brought to safety on French territory.

Other communities are also affected by the distribution of nationals evacuated in an emergency, such as the cities of Lille, Strasbourg or Bagnolet.

The commune of Seine-Saint-Denis announced Thursday the reception for the next few weeks of 119 Afghans, supported by the Red Cross.
