Following the spread of the new coronavirus, Kanagawa Prefecture has decided to combine online learning to decentralize school attendance in order to reduce the number of students attending prefectural high schools and secondary schools.

In response to the spread of the new coronavirus to children, Kanagawa Prefecture held a countermeasures headquarters meeting on the 26th to reduce the number of students attending 140 prefectural high schools and secondary schools on September 1. We have decided to go to school in a distributed manner from the 1st to the 12th.

Specifically, 1st and 2nd grade students will go to school 1 day a week, 3rd grade students will go to school 2 days a week, and on other days, they will study online, which means that the number of students going to school will be reduced to 30%.

Furthermore, during this period, in principle, school events and club activities such as school festivals and sports festivals will not be held.

The prefectural board of education will request municipalities to consider decentralized school attendance in the future.

At the meeting, it was also decided to distribute two antigen test kits per person to 770,000 children attending nursery schools and elementary schools.

The aim is to curb the spread of infection at schools by making it easy to inspect at home by distributing it to each household through schools.

Governor Kuroiwa said, "As school begins, measures to prevent infection of children are an urgent issue. If you have symptoms such as fever, please do not let them go to school."
