Recently, at the Affiliated Hospital of Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qin Xiaoguang, deputy chief physician of the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, was doing Dunhuang moxibustion for patients.

He introduced to reporters that the main source of Dunhuang characteristic moxibustion is to draw on the idea of moxibustion in the first volume of the Dunhuang posthumous book "Moxibustion Diagram".

Ginger and moxa, supplemented with a special prescription for moxibustion, are the main materials of Dunhuang characteristic moxibustion.

An adult needs about 6 kg of fresh ginger to apply moxibustion, cut into pieces, crush, filter, and make cakes, apply it to the uncomfortable area, and light moxa to apply moxibustion.

Ai Zhu is relatively generous, which is the obvious feature of Dunhuang moxibustion.

The principle of treatment is mainly to combine the effects of ginger and medicine, and use the combined effect of heat generated by the burning of gingerbread and moxa to treat some stubborn and complex diseases, especially for chronic physical weakness and cold diseases, which is clinically very good. The curative effect of the moxibustion is mostly female, and the moxibustion process takes about one and a half hours.

The "Moxibustion Diagram" was unearthed in the Scripture Cave of Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang in 1900, and has high academic and historical value.

The Fragmented Moxibustion Diagram is now in the British Museum in London.
