A terrible accident occurred Tuesday evening, around 8 p.m., on a large departmental road in Bourg-Saint-Bernard, west of Toulouse.

A mother, who was riding in a Fiesta with her two daughters aged 13 and 11, was hit head-on by a Touran.

The latter was driving in the opposite direction, at high speed, and, for a reason which the investigation will have to determine, is deported on the left lane.

“The working hypothesis is that of a loss of control.

The firefighters dispatched to the scene could only note the death of the 47-year-old driver and that of her eldest daughter.

The other young passenger, who was seated in the back, was seriously injured.

She was rushed to Purpan University Hospital and placed in intensive care.

Driver checks

The driver of the Touran also suffers from multiple fractures but his life is not in danger.

The 36-year-old man is from Castres (Tarn).

Balma's gendarmes, in charge of the investigation, are checking his administrative status and in particular whether he held a valid driver's license.

The bereaved family lived in a small village near Castanet-Tolosan.
