On the 24th of the first day of summer vacation in Miyazaki City, more than 1000 children and students attending public elementary and junior high schools in the city were absent from school due to concerns about the infection of the new coronavirus.

The Board of Education of Miyazaki City, which was the earliest in the municipalities in Miyazaki Prefecture and the public elementary and junior high schools reopened on the 24th, investigated the attendance status of children and students in all 72 schools in the city.

As a result, it was found that a total of 1098 people, 785 in elementary school and 313 in junior high school, were absent from school due to concerns about infection with the new coronavirus.

This is 3.4% of all children and students.

It means that there are many people who took a rest because "some people have become positive in their acquaintances, and if they are infected, they will spread at school."

The city's board of education has been checking the number of people who have been absent from school due to anxiety about infection since last year, but the number was highest on the 24th.

On the other hand, some students go out of the prefecture to undergo PCR tests at club activities and take a rest until the results are obtained.

The city's Board of Education has decided not to absent from school due to anxiety about infection while the prefecture has issued its own state of emergency.

Due to the spread of the infection, elementary and junior high schools in Miyazaki City are supposed to finish classes in the morning of the whole month, but at the moment it is a policy not to take measures to close the school because it is necessary to guarantee learning.
