The Abu Dhabi Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Committee continues its intensive preparations for the launch of the Al Dhafra Festival, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in its fifteenth session, which is held in conjunction with the celebration of the fiftieth year, from October 28 to January 22, 2022 (Abu Dhabi Mazayat Season), including three camel auctions, and a comprehensive heritage festival in Sweihan, Razeen, Madinat Zayed and Al Dhafra within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Al Dhafra Festival embodies the emirate’s efforts to enhance its position as a regional and global platform for heritage, especially with the current cycle witnessing an increase in the number of prizes and the exploration of new horizons to highlight the richness of the Emirati and Arab heritage in camel auctions by introducing new categories for camel prizes and heritage competitions. The festival reflects the commitment of the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Committee in Abu Dhabi to translate the cultural vision of the Emirate by preserving and reviving the heritage, communicating the civilized and human message of the Emirates to the world, as well as promoting the values ​​of loyalty and belonging through the practice of authentic Emirati heritage.

It is noteworthy that the Abu Dhabi Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee, during field tours, reviewed the progress of work in the four regions hosting the festival, in coordination with various concerned authorities and partners, to complete all the necessary preparations and preparations to ensure the achievement of the festival’s goals and mission, in addition to developmental steps and early preparation for the influx of camel convoys and their owners. To the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in mid-October, before the launch of the festival, which includes many heritage and cultural events, foremost of which are the auctions that reflect the passion of the Emiratis in particular, and the peoples of the Arab Gulf region in general, for camels, their breeding and care, in the context of their adherence to their authentic customs and ancient traditions.

The festival also highlights the role of camels in the culture and heritage of the UAE and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, through camel auctions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for authentic breeds from the categories of localities, Majahim and hybrids, as well as the Emirates and Al Wadhh Prize. ) with a value of six million dirhams, as it follows a new mechanism based on points and is the first of its kind in camel auctions competitions.

The festival comes in light of the “Covid-19” pandemic, with full commitment to the precautionary measures for individuals and delegations participating from inside and outside the country, and the precautionary health measures at the festival sites and in the farms and auction nets, to confirm the committee’s keenness to contribute to the recovery from the pandemic, and the return of life to normal. With annual heritage festivals and fairs that highlight the UAE's position as a regional and global incubator for efforts to preserve heritage and pass it on to future generations.
