It's time to "break" the chaos in the youth circle

Investing, krypton gold, and auctions, why are these circles so "burning money"?

Indulge, weariness, and absenteeism, is it a "new circle" or an "old vice"?

When will the "Zuan culture" spread quietly against spitting, verbal abuse, and stigmatization?

Recently, the chaos in the "fan circle" has aroused social attention. However, the bad social behaviors and cultural problems of minors on the Internet are not limited to the "fan circle".

With the emergence of a series of youth sub-cultural circles such as the fan circle, the picture circle, and the game circle, some youths are overly addicted to star chasing, online chat, games, etc., and the chaos in some virtual spaces spread to offline, even affecting young people Physical and mental health.

The reporter interviewed some "people in the circle" and related experts and scholars in order to understand their thoughts and feelings, see the reasons behind them, and explore ways of governance.

1. Speaking swearing, addictive, and burn a lot of money

Chaos in some subcultural circles emerges endlessly

During the interview, the reporter learned that chaos in some subcultural circles has emerged one after another, which has seriously affected the physical and mental health of some young people.

“Fans only buy a certain number of albums in order to get the chance to get around the stars at the event.” Recalling the experience of participating in a certain celebrity’s offline support activity for the first time, the number of albums purchased by fans made them a junior at Zhejiang University who claimed to be a “loose fan”. Student Wang Qianqian was surprised, “I bought 7 at least, and many fans will buy hundreds or even thousands of the same album at a time.” Based on the price of 3 yuan per album, a fan spends on an album. The amount is more than 1,000 yuan.

The sales of albums, magazines, and endorsement brands are all regarded by fans as an important manifestation of the star's performance.

In order to have a good-looking performance, the flame of "burning money" burned in the rice circle, and even spread to the game circle, painting circle and other sub-cultural circles, and it has become more and more intense.

"I will not'krypton gold' (spend money) in games." Fang Yuan (pseudonym), a second-year middle school student in the central region, has been addicted to the "relaxation and satisfaction brought by the game since he was exposed to games in the second grade of elementary school." ".

Mother Zhang Zhen is very worried: "He has no thoughts to study at all. He goes online for at least two hours a day. If I don't control it, seven or eight hours will be possible."

Not only after class, but scenes of indulging in games will also appear in class.

Fang Yuan told reporters, “Some students will bring their mobile phones to school, hide in the dormitory to play games at night, and go to bed during the day when they are in class.” Children’s addiction to games is in a rebellious period. It is forbidden to bring mobile phones but it is difficult to control. The phenomenon of indulging in games and being tired of studying and absenteeism occurs from time to time among young people.

In addition, verbal violence in some circles is not uncommon.

As a senior game player, Chen Ziqiang (pseudonym), a junior at Hangzhou Dianzi University, is accustomed to the "player and fan chat" and "group scolding wars" in the gaming circle.

In some cases, because the game progress is not smooth, there are also various "holding gods" and "throwing gods".

He believes: "'There are more sprays, high play less' is a true portrayal of the gaming circle."

"Fanquan" girl Zhang Yi (pseudonym) and Chen Ziqiang have similar feelings.

She was exhausted physically and mentally by hitting the charts of a certain music chart.

"This event has a long time and a long battle line. Many fans attacked each other to'buy navy' and'buy data'. The'Daming Square' of each house was even more smoky, with many verbal abuse, stomping, ridicule and even personal attacks."

2. One-sided, labelled and emotional

The supervision and governance of the network platform space needs to be strengthened urgently

"The popularity of youth subculture is inseparable from the increasing progress of network media technology." Jiang Ling, a special researcher invited by the China Institute of Urban Governance at Shanghai Jiaotong University, analyzes that the growth of the young generation in my country is synchronized with the development of Internet technology, and the network media platform serves as a collection of learning The space where work, social interaction, leisure and entertainment are integrated, permeates all aspects of teenagers’ daily lives.

At the same time, most of the post-80s, post-90s, and post-00s teenagers are only children. The lack of peers in real life makes them more willing to engage in virtual social networking and various entertainment consumption in cyberspace, seeking spiritual comfort and pleasure, and gaining A sense of group belonging.

"Youth subculture is a'double-edged sword'. While it brings positive value, it may also contain huge risks." Ma Zhonghong, a professor at the Phoenix School of Communication of Soochow University, pointed out that "the cultural paradigm and cultural practice of youth subculture is impossible. Completely integrated into the mainstream ethical framework to understand, it often deviates or transcends. Many youth subcultures are characterized by rebellious, rebellious, and subversive characteristics. Some youths are prone to form a concept that is contrary to the mainstream of the society. The network culture environment has a negative impact."

"Young people tend to accept certain types of information one-sidedly, thereby constantly solidifying certain values and emotional tendencies." Jiang Ling worries that some young people are trapped in certain circles. Under the filtering of information, their speech will become one-sided, labelled, emotional and even Extreme.

Many experts pointed out in interviews that many young subcultural chaos are the result of multiple factors.

On the one hand, the current network information resources are abundant, and the information content presents diversified forms.

"The dualistic thinking in Western culture, the deconstruction of authority and the elite's postmodern thoughts, and the questioning and critical spirit have expanded and even alienated in cyberspace."

At the same time, there are also disadvantages such as information overload, fragmentation, and one-sidedness.

"In this environment, the knowledge received by young people is often'excessive in breadth but insufficient in depth', which leads to their lack of rational and in-depth thinking, and they are prone to some irrational behaviors." Jiang Ling pointed out.

On the other hand, the mentality of young people is not yet fully mature, the "three views" have not yet been finalized, the limited knowledge reserves, and the need to improve moral and ethical accomplishments are also important reasons.

Ma Zhonghong believes that young people are more sensitive to new things and have more curiosity about new media and new technologies, but their minds are not yet mature, and their abilities in value judgment, information judgment, self-behavior determination, etc. are weak, and they are prone to negative effects. Event.

Parent Zhang Zhen believes that the mutual influence between peers should not be ignored. "If the classmates around you speak swear words or are addicted to online games, then children are also vulnerable to certain influences."

In addition, the supervision and governance of the online platform space are relatively lagging, and there is an urgent need for refined and normalized supervision and governance measures and timely and effective public opinion guidance.

As a “transparent little painter” active on a platform for animation, comics, and game lovers, Dan Dan (a pseudonym), a sophomore at a university in the east, told reporters that transactions in the circle of tens of thousands of yuan per month require neither proof nor proof. No contract is required, and no personal income tax is required for the painter’s income.

"The transactions in the painted circle lack effective supervision and governance, and there is a feeling of being in a gray area. Here, the law seems to be'invisible'."

3. Yiqinglang, emphasizing supervision and long standardization

Establish a long-term mechanism for youth cultural construction

Facing the chaos in the subcultural circle, in recent years, relevant state departments have adopted a series of rectification measures——

On August 19, 2020, six departments including the Ministry of Education, the National Press and Publication Administration, the Central Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, and the State Administration of Market Supervision jointly launched a special governance action for minors’ online environment. Great efforts have been made in the governance of "fan circle", "black world" and "zuan" culture involving minors' bad online social behaviors and phenomena.

On June 15, 2021, the Central Office of the Cyberspace Administration of China launched a special action called "Clearness and Rectification of Meal Circles", establishing the "Principles of Entertainment Information Management" and clarifying seven "prohibitive" clauses.

As of August 2, the special action has cleared up more than 150,000 negative and harmful information, handled more than 4,000 illegal accounts, and closed more than 1,300 problematic groups.

These measures have played an important role in tackling bad phenomena such as "fan circle" and "Zuan culture".

However, there are also some undesirable phenomena that turn to be hidden deeper.

Reporters have recently searched on some social platforms with keywords such as "black world" and "deduction" and found that very few individuals or groups are still posting information about "recruiting friends".

It can be seen that it is extremely urgent to effectively rectify the chaos in the subcultural circle and establish a healthy and long-term mechanism for the construction of youth culture.

Jiang Ling suggested that with the help of a three-dimensional network media platform, diversified means, through a variety of forms, to shape the correct world outlook, outlook on life and values for contemporary young people.

"Ideological and political workers must actively integrate into the online entertainment games, online social networking and other communities of the youth group, actively learn new knowledge, new discourse systems, control new media technologies, and continuously enhance their discourse power and influence in ideological and political education, and reach the youth Good results of online ideological and political education."

At the same time, as the main governing body of cyberspace, new media platforms need to improve and perfect their supervision technology, resist erroneous social thoughts, language violence, and other concepts and expressions that are contrary to the core socialist values, and help young people build a healthy cyber culture.

Jiang Ling pointed out: "Relevant government departments must improve relevant laws and regulations. On the one hand, they must strictly supervise online games and entertainment communities, and strengthen the supervision of youth online entertainment game products; on the other hand, they must comprehensively use legal, administrative and technical means. , To strengthen the supervision and governance of the product and service content of various online media platforms."

It is necessary to build a collaborative construction mechanism for relevant government departments, new media platform companies, youth social organizations, schools, families, individual youth and all sectors of society.

Jiang Ling suggested: "All subjects participate in consultation, joint construction and governance, and form a rigorous network platform space construction and governance system. Only in this way can we firmly control the dominant position of socialist core values and jointly create a clean and virtuous network space. "
