The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the detailed situation because the water level of the river was increasing at that time due to the influence of the rain last week.

Around noon on the 22nd, a 9-year-old boy living in Tokyo who had come to play in the Tama River in Hikawa, Okutama Town, was swept away and lost his whereabouts.



Upon receiving the report, the Metropolitan Police Department and the Tokyo Fire Department searched the area, and at around 10:30 am on the 23rd, a boy was found about 2 km downstream and was confirmed dead at the hospital where he was transported.



On the 22nd, the boy was visiting the Tama River with a total of six people, including his mother and his friend's family, but it was said that the water level had increased at that time due to the continuous rain last week.
