Watch out for these foods: Hot dogs shorten your life by 36 minutes, French fries by 1.5 minutes.

A recent medical study in the United States warned that eating hot dogs is very harmful to human health, considering that a single piece of it can shorten an individual's life by 36 minutes.

Researchers from the American University of Michigan studied the health impact of a number of foods, by measuring their carbon footprint and effects.

The study was published in the journal Nature Food, which deals with nutrition and its consequences for human health, while obesity is increasing alarmingly in many countries of the world.

According to "Sky News Arabia", the study found that the damage is not limited to "hot dogs", but also includes soft drinks that usually accompany it, because they cause great harm to human health.

She said that fried potatoes are also harmful to humans, because they "shorten life" by 1.5 minutes.

The researchers provided an accurate explanation of the way in which they measured the effect of some foods on human life, as the study reported that each gram of processed meat leads to a reduction in life of up to 0.45 minutes on average.

Accordingly, if a person ate a hot dog of 61 grams, he would lose up to 27 minutes.

The eater loses 27 minutes of a hot dog alone, without talking about the accompanying high-fat “mayonnaise” and french fries, as well as soft drinks. On the other hand, the study revealed foods that contribute to “prolonging” human life, such as nuts and some Cereals and peanut butter, noting that they are very beneficial, extending life by 30 minutes.

And grilled salmon came in second place, in terms of benefit, because it helps to extend the life of a person by 15 minutes on average. As for bananas, it helps extend life by 13.5 minutes.

Fast food has many negative effects on health, as it has high calories and a high content of fat, cholesterol, salt, and sugar, and also contains a small amount of vitamins and minerals, and we mention from its damages the following:

Diabetes: Some fast foods contain a high percentage of sugar, such as: chocolate, as each 454 grams of it contains 62 grams of sugar, and soft drinks, as each 454 grams of them contains 44 grams of sugar, and burgers also contain a large amount of sugar. Therefore, eating fast food regularly is one of the reasons for the continuous rise in blood sugar levels, and it may cause serious complications

Atherosclerosis and heart disease: Fast food is high in salt, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease

Increased risk of obesity: Fast food is high in calories and low in nutritional value, which leads to obesity and abdominal fat, and thus increases the risk of chronic and serious diseases.

Tooth decay: Consuming soft drinks and sugary drinks permanently may lead to weak teeth and oral health. Eating large amounts of gas increases acid in the mouth, which leads to tooth decay and cavities.
