The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of continuous rain and strong thunderstorms in parts of Saxony-Anhalt.

Until Monday afternoon, it could rain heavily, especially in the southern half of the country, in places 50 to 80 liters of rain per square meter were possible, the DWD announced on Sunday afternoon.

Deep “Manfred” is responsible for this.

Local streets could be flooded or basements could fill up. The cities of Halle, Magdeburg and Dessau-Roßlau as well as the Harz are also affected. There was initially no warning for the Altmark. Strong thunderstorms also formed locally, for example in the Upper Harz and in the Mansfeld-Südharz district.

In view of the threat of massive rainfall, the State Office for Flood Protection and Water Management has warned of possible floods on some rivers.

The warning applies to the Bode, its tributaries and the Ilse, it said in a message on Sunday evening.

When the forecast precipitation arrives, a rapid increase in runoff is to be expected, and the reference values of the reporting limits or alarm level one could be reached and exceeded at the flood warning levels.

Alert level one is the lowest of four alert levels.

Dry in the north and west, inconsistent in the south

After a lot of sunshine at 25 to 30 degrees in summer on Saturday, Low “Manfred” brought shower-like rain and sometimes heavy thunderstorms to the western half of Germany on Sunday night.

As the German Weather Service (DWD) had announced, "Manfred" shifted eastward over northern Germany over the course of the day.

"This means that showers and thunderstorms on Sunday will also spread to large parts of the country."

How is the weather going to be with you?

Look here.

At the start of the week, the rains should gradually subside and slowly shift southwards.

The south-eastern half of Germany is facing another unstable to rainy day.

In contrast, to the west and north it not only remains mostly dry, but also increasingly sunny under the increasing influence of high pressure.

The temperature level will slide back into the only moderately warm area.

We expect a maximum of 23 degrees for Monday.

According to the meteorologists, the last drops of rain will also be driven from the southeast on Tuesday.

“The sun is still having a hard time asserting itself against the many clouds.

Otherwise there is a lot of sunshine with still only moderate maximum values between 18 and 23 degrees. ”But this high pressure influence should not last long either.

As early as Wednesday, it looks as if it will be more volatile again from the north, said the DWD.
