As the German Meteorological Service (DWD) announced, "Manfred" moves eastward over northern Germany over the course of the day.
"This means that showers and thunderstorms on Sunday will also spread to large parts of the country."
According to the DWD, there will be two focal points later: On the one hand, the meteorologists in the south-east are expecting thunderstorms, which can bring heavy hail in addition to heavy rain and heavy gusts of wind.
On the other hand, according to the current status, parts of the north and east, especially the regions from eastern and southern Lower Saxony via Saxony-Anhalt to Brandenburg and Berlin, have come into focus.
In addition to strong thunderstorms, prolonged rainfalls can also be expected there.
According to the DWD forecast, 50 to 80 liters per square meter can fall in places until Monday.
Even higher quantities cannot be ruled out locally.
"How exactly the situation will develop is still uncertain at the moment," it said.
On Tuesday 18 to 23 degrees
At the start of the week, the rains should gradually subside and slowly shift southwards.
The south-eastern half of Germany is facing another unstable to rainy day.
In contrast, to the west and north it not only remains mostly dry, but also increasingly sunny under the increasing influence of high pressure.
The temperature level will slide back into the only moderately warm area.
If the DWD occasionally expects up to 26 degrees on Sunday, it will probably end on Monday at a maximum of 23 degrees.
According to the meteorologists, the last drops of rain will also be driven from the southeast on Tuesday. “The sun is still having a hard time asserting itself against the many clouds. Otherwise there is a lot of sunshine with still only moderate maximum values between 18 and 23 degrees. ”But this high pressure influence should not last long either. As early as Wednesday, it looks as if it will be more volatile again from the north, said the DWD.
