In Jinan, Shandong, a 63-year-old man adopted more than 1,700 stray dogs, which attracted the attention of many dog lovers.
The old man's name is Dong Shuzhen, and she has adopted stray dogs for more than ten years.
[Explanation] On August 20, the reporter saw in Dong Shuzhen’s stray dog adoption base in Licheng District, Jinan, that there were too many stray dogs of different breeds, such as golden retriever, Alaska, and pastoral dog. At this time, Dong Shuzhen was carefully feeding the base’s dogs. Doggie.
She told reporters that her relationship with stray dogs started in 2004.

(2004) I opened a foreign trade clothing store, and the opposite of me turned out to be some waste collection, and the dog I raised was for him to look after the door.
(Later collecting waste products) all left, leaving all the dogs behind.
These dogs are all fed by me, and in the end, the dogs came to my store to shelter from the rain.
At that time, there were more than 30 stray dogs in my store alone, which made the store smell so (big) that the neighbors were unwilling.
[Explanation] With the increasing number of stray dogs adopted, factors such as barking have affected the normal life of the surrounding residents.
In 2014, Dong Shuzhen began to build a stray dog adoption base. Due to the relatively remote location, the harassment of the people was improved.
At the stray dog adoption base, Dong Shuzhen feeds, adds water, cleans, and eats and lives with the dogs every day. She has become a veritable "dog mother".

Not counting this year, I haven't been home for almost five years.

[Explanation] It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the stray dogs that Dong Shuzhen adopted, most of them were rescued in slaughterhouses and dog meat houses.

She told reporters that five years ago, she refused to follow her daughter's invitation to live together abroad.

Raising these stray dogs has a bad relationship with my daughter. My daughter asked me to go abroad (out of the country) to provide me with old-age care, but I did not go.

[Commentary] In the face of the family's incomprehension and the doubts of the people around, Dong Shuzhen never chose to give up helping the stray dogs.
In her view, dogs, like humans, are also living beings that should be protected.

Dogs are life to me.
We used to say this (in this case), some people don't like dogs, and they say we are sick.
Although you look at them as stray dogs, they know what they say, every time they move, they are some sensible children.
I can’t eat well, wear well, sleep well, what I look like, look at the look of the dog expecting that kind of eyes, it is very pitiful, it is a life.
[Explanation] After years of continuous rescue and adoption, Dong Shuzhen’s stray dog adoption base has more than 1,700 dogs living together. As a result, she has spent all her savings and owes a lot of foreign debts.
At this stage, there are still many stray dogs being adopted to the base, and the existing venues can no longer meet the adoption needs. In order to rescue more stray dogs, Dong Shuzhen decided to build a "new home" for the dogs.
She also broke her heart for the construction of the "new home".

In the future, I want to give dogs a good home. As long as there is me, they will have a home, and at least no one will hurt him anymore.
