Oral by parents in 7 cities|Under the "double reduction" policy, how to resolve the remaining anxiety and pressure

The Paper Journalist He Liquan, Tan Jun, Wang Xuanhui, Wang Xin, Intern Wu Danping, Ma Shiwen, Zhu Siqi

On July 24, the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Further Reducing the Work Burden of Students in Compulsory Education and the Burden of Off-campus Training" (referred to as the "double reduction" policy), clarifying that off-campus training institutions shall not occupy national statutory holidays, Organize subject training on rest days and winter and summer vacations.

The promulgation of the "double reduction" policy has enabled the off-campus training industry, which has been encumbered by capital and rushed all the way in recent years, to "extinguish" and enter an era of standardized development.

In the past, many parents were exhausted physically and mentally from the "involvement" of off-campus training. Now that the "double reduction" policy is implemented, can their anxiety and pressure be resolved?

In addition to expecting "double reductions" to bring practical results, what other worries are there?

Eight parents from seven cities were interviewed by The Paper recently, telling them about their mental journeys and countermeasures under this major change.

"Think of'Buddha', but was taken away"

Ms. Zhou, Zhengzhou parent, the child is in third grade

My daughter is eight and a half years old now, and she is in the third grade.

Our school is a model school for quality education in Zhengzhou. She usually ends school at 4 pm, which is relatively easy.

The "double reduction" policy was introduced some time ago. In fact, it will not be particularly stressful for me, but my life has changed.

The extracurricular tuition for subjects she is now reporting is English and mathematics, and there are other interest classes such as piano and handwriting.

English is in a brand organization and has been learning for more than two years.

Mathematics opened a new branch of an education and training institution near our home last year. We started enrolling students before our qualifications were completed. We got a degree from a very popular teacher at that time.

This is because there is a saying in the "mother circle" in Zhengzhou: the first and second grades can be skipped, but the third grade must be studied.

So basically the second grade started to grab a degree in the first semester.

Our summer classes have not yet started. At this time, we are faced with the "double reduction" policy. The qualifications of the training institutions do not meet the requirements, so this campus near our home may be closed.

I recently received a call from an extracurricular class teacher for two days in a row. After the "double reduction" policy was introduced, all extracurricular classes must be changed to workdays.

First, the English had to be changed to Monday. The newly opened training institution had not yet started, but it could only be changed to Monday, because the teacher who was fancy for the degree at that time only arranged Monday classes.

I must give way to English at this time, because after all, I have been studying for so long.

So the current situation is to temporarily abandon the Xinbao training organization, but other interest classes like piano and vocal music have no effect.

In fact, I am not too radical in my children's learning.

I am more aware of the direction I want to nurture, and I don't have too much expectations of her, asking what kind of school she must go to.

This year, Zhengzhou’s "Xiaoshengchu" has changed. In the past, it was possible to find a way to choose a school, but now it will be very difficult.

The school district where we are located is a junior high school with a poor reputation here. I thought some time ago, if the child really goes to this school, I can accept it.

In addition, I think that one does not mean that one must go to a prestigious school to be able to achieve success, but to rely on previous training.

I hope she can have a normal life and understand that learning is a long process and should have her own goals. For learning, it is enough to be content and stable.

But everyone says that the third grade is a watershed. The first and second grades cannot see the results (differences), and the gap will be drawn from the third grade.

My child has not experienced the third grade so far, and I dare not say whether this theory is true or not.

Sometimes when picking up children after school, you will see very interesting phenomena. I heard mothers talking about cram school, and I felt that wow, I was too Buddhist.

Because some children may only have half a day off on Sundays a week, and there are classes every day from Monday to Saturday.

In fact, the first and second grades of my child are very comfortable. The child has been in a relaxed state for the past two years, and the parents will also feel more relaxed.

To be honest, although I feel a little bit reluctant to change the cram school time to working days, because this increases the child’s daily time expenditure, it will be more difficult, but I still feel that there is a trend for the better, and I also feel that There is not much anxiety.

Because I am not the kind of parents who are particularly "chicken-blooded", and most of the parents around me feel that if it doesn't work, just forget it.

When there are such voices all around, there is not so much anxiety.

But I didn't make up my mind to really stop learning. If I had the opportunity, I would look for other ways, even if I wanted to "play guerrilla."

I was chatting with a few mothers this afternoon (August 16th), and now everyone is thinking of their own way, and it is possible to find "small class teaching".

But it is said that there will be uncles and aunts in the community who often report, which will be very embarrassing, so we said whether we should go to this student's home for class today and tomorrow to go to that student's home for class.

My thoughts are also very realistic. The "double reduction" gave me a reason to "lie flat" but did not give me the courage to "lie flat".

Because the road ahead is not clear, I don't know if I really don't follow today, what kind of state my child will be in the future, will I regret it?

It is impossible for every parent to bet on the future of the child, but if I have a little ability to keep her from falling behind, I will definitely do my best.

I will still "follow the trend", and people around will lead me to run, because everyone is like this.

After the "double reduction" policy was introduced, because school has not yet started, I don't know how many new problems there may be in the implementation, and what new ideas I will have in my heart.

There is still an epidemic in Zhengzhou, adults and children are staying at home.

All her tuition classes are conducted online, and after the school starts, before September 15th, it will be changed to online classes.

So everything hasn't officially started yet, I'm still waiting for new news and communicating with other mothers at the same time.

"Whether the burden is really reduced, wait for practical verification"

Ms. Wang, Yangzhou parent, the child is quasi-secondary

My child is in the second grade in September this year.

He supplemented him with mathematics, physics, and English during the summer vacation.

Mathematics and physics are all learned in an online school of an education and training institution, which belongs to the early learning of the contents of the class, which may be more difficult than the school.

English is a one-to-one online class with a teacher from a training institution.

Before enrolling in each class, we will seek the opinions of the children.

Since the summer vacation time is relatively abundant, he is also willing to attend, and all classes are online, so there is no need to waste travel time.

Having been playing, it is estimated that he also feels "guilty".

Participating in extracurricular training is mainly because young boys don’t arrange time for study, and they are very playful, and attending class is equivalent to arranging study for him.

For example, English is his weakness, so the summer vacation is mainly to lay a solid foundation and let the teacher help him plan and review.

Mathematics has been studied in training institutions since the fourth grade. If he is interested, and the effect is good, then continue.

Physics was not reported at the beginning, but because of the epidemic, I could not go anywhere. I also thought that the start of the next semester might be postponed, and the time will be tighter, so let the children learn in advance while they are free.

As far as I know, make-up classes are common, regardless of good students or poor students.

Like summer make-up classes, my family’s three subjects are just starting out, and they are usually non-linguistic mathematics + physics.

Although the current policy calls for reducing the burden on students, I am worried about whether the burden can really be reduced.

Because of the pressure of entering school, some parents may still think of ways to make up lessons.

For example, online courses are only available from Monday to Friday, and on weekends, you can only watch course replays. Then students still make up lessons, and it’s a big deal to watch replays; for example, offline courses may now choose one-on-one or home tutoring.

If demand exists, the pressure and burden may not change, but the form of supplementary lessons will change.

Affected by the "double reduction" policy, the physics class in the training institution was originally held from August 17th to 27th during the summer vacation, but supplementary lessons are not allowed in late August, so these ten lessons were transferred to August 6th. After the 12th, many people may not be able to keep up with time.

If the time is not suitable, the institution will refund the fee in full.

It's quite frustrating to be called to stop like this.

Jiangsu Province also has relevant documents. For example, junior high school can study late at night, and elementary school is delayed until the parents' off work time, but the school has not received notice. I don't know whether it will be implemented.

If this is the case, the school teachers are suffering, management, teaching, and delays.

So I think this (double reduction) is really a big reform, let's prove it with practice.

"Over the years I have become accustomed to off-campus training, and suddenly I can't let go of restrictions"

Changsha parents, children are expected to be third grade

My son is in a key class in a public middle school in Changsha, and will be in the third year of junior high after this summer vacation.

Thinking of my child's grades, I couldn't sleep all night long.

Neither of us have read any books and have low academic qualifications, so I try my best to let the children have a better way out, and don't worry about life in the future.

Now, my child still goes to foreign training (out-of-school training).

The content of education and training institutions should be expanded a little bit more than in schools.

If he hadn't gone for training outside, he would not be able to do some of the exam questions in privately-run prestigious schools.

Because every time he takes an exam, I follow up and check it.

Some knowledge was not taught in the school, but the training organization taught it.

Public and private are different.

The public office speaks according to the content in the textbook.

Privately run the knowledge in class, and most of them talk about expanded content.

For the senior high school entrance examination, the last finale opens the gap. This is an expansion. It is difficult to achieve that kind of score without studying outside.

The state now says "double reduction" and restricts off-campus training.

But the child is in the third year of junior high, it is the stage of checking for omissions, reviewing and consolidating, as a parent, I can't let it go.

You said how effective the supplementation is. It's hard to say, do you say it doesn't work? It definitely works.

After so many years of off-campus training, I spent a lot of money and got used to their system.

If the "double reduction" policy can really be implemented, of course it will be good.

First of all, the supplementary tuition fees for external training really drained parents like us.

This kind of financial pressure has also affected my mood and the parent-child relationship.

Secondly, on the whole, foreign training is a bit advanced, and the model of education and training institutions is a little bit outdated.

For most children, the knowledge base is more important.

We are ordinary children. At that time, we were in a high-level class at a training institution, and felt something was wrong, so we moved to the basic class.

Looking back now, if a child can start all over again, not for the private examination, but for the public school, we will definitely not go to Mathematical Olympiad. We should do a solid reading and improve his concentration.

At that time, I learned Mathematical Olympiad and didn't spend so much time on reading, otherwise Chinese and English are much easier now.

Children nowadays study too hard, it's like us back then.

There are no weekends for junior high school students, and the children are under too much pressure.

In fact, sometimes, I also reflect on myself.

I dare not push too hard.

Do you say my child is willing to make up lessons?

He is more or less resistant.

I said, if you don't want to learn, then you can withdraw some courses, but he didn't want to, he said he still wanted to go.

The "double reduction" policy is truly implemented, and everyone is well-balanced, which is pretty good.

But I am afraid the situation will not be so ideal all of a sudden.

Some good parents will invite one-on-one private tutoring.

Under the pressure of entering a higher school and grades, if the parents themselves have the ability, it is okay to tutor them by themselves; if they are not able, and do not want to give up, either "group class" or "one-on-one".

The final result is to increase the pressure on families like ours.

Teachers have to take greater risks to make up lessons, and prices will rise.

Children who are close to the training institution are more convenient to make up lessons.

The current policy is not to make up for winter and summer vacations and weekends. It can still be made up from Monday to Friday. Those major training institutions are concentrated in (Changsha) Dongtang, Wuyi Square and Nanmenkou, near the "Four Famous Schools". It is much more convenient for those children to attend training classes.

For those of us in junior high schools far away, the cancellation of weekend make-up classes is basically impossible.

Because time is too late.

How does school education connect with policy?

For so many years, we have become accustomed to the system of training institutions and their teachers. Teachers basically grasp every child. There will be no more than 20 students in a class. There is even a teacher, because several parents said It is convenient to have classes somewhere, so an extra class is opened for 8 children.

I would rather trouble the teachers outside than the school teachers.

School teachers also have their own children, and finally have their own weekends, and can't bear to disturb them.

If we restrict external training, we should first raise the salary and quality of teachers.

Not every teacher can do his best to serve other people's children.

His salary is only that level.

Only when wages are raised can the quality of teaching be improved.

For example, if a public middle school can go to self-study in the evening, parents are willing to pay, the state pays a little, and the parents pay a little, so that unconscious children can be taken care of.

Otherwise, at home every day, I will stare at him, the two will quarrel, and the parents will be so tired.

In short, we are still holding a wait-and-see attitude towards the "double reduction" policy.

We also want to "do not focus on scores, focus on a sound and mature personality." If the entire educational environment is relaxed and focus on these aspects, parents will also pay more attention to these aspects.

"If you have a B-roll, you still have to go to the training class"

Mr. Bai, a parent in Chengdu, the child is in third grade

My child is in the third grade and has made up three subjects of mathematics, Chinese and English.

The extracurricular training mainly wants her to improve her grades. In the school examination, mathematics is divided into A and B papers, but the school's teaching content does not include the topics on the B paper. If you don’t go to the training class outside, you can’t do the B paper. Question.

The result is that children who have completed the make-up class may get more than 90 points on the test, and those who have not made up the class may get 60 to 70 points.

We are in a public elementary school. Generally speaking, a class has more than 50 children and there are two head teachers.

A head teacher and a deputy head teacher have to supervise more than 50 children, which is quite difficult, so the teacher can't supervise them in such detail.

When you go to a parent meeting, the teacher will tell you that the school can only provide basic education, and you have to rely on the parents for future efforts. When you go back, you have to work hard, and you will say this every time you hold a parent meeting.

Now we are giving children a supplementary mathematics course in an education and training institution, which is an offline course, mainly for the B-book.

Before, my family had both English and mathematics classes, but the effect was not good, and the effect was not as good as face-to-face teaching.

To be honest, in my opinion, the teachers and the quality of teaching are generally average when children make up for mathematics in training institutions.

But make-up lessons will definitely help the children's grades, because there is a big gap between learning and not learning.

Now the second and third grade B-book exams all test multiple linear equations. I remember this is the content of our junior high school.

Although the situation of supplementing a few courses is different in each family, they basically supplement mathematics.

My children used to go to extracurricular training on weekends. After the "double reduction" policy, they can no longer attend weekends, so they are transferred to Monday and Friday evenings, basically after 6 pm.

In public schools in Chengdu, providing paid "delayed" services requires additional payment.

Normally, school will be over at three or four o'clock, but the school requires every child to participate in the "delayed" service as much as possible.

In my impression, the "delay" started in the first grade, and it would be "delayed" until half past five.

During this time period, the teacher does not attend classes, but takes the children to do homework and read books at school.

Although the extracurricular training time has been adjusted to Monday to Friday evening, in my opinion, the children still have to go to the training class.

Because the exam questions will not change, the exam syllabus will not change, you still have to get these questions and take these exams.

Unless it is fundamentally resolved, such as making some changes in the syllabus and examination questions, no one may go to the training class.

If English is not tested for grammar in the fifth grade, and Chinese is not tested for composition in the fourth grade, it is estimated that no one will attend the (training class).

Therefore, if it is not solved fundamentally, the policy is just a slogan, and it even adds to the burden.

It is possible that the training institutions will not be available in the future, so what should I do, go to one-to-one, the cost has actually increased.

There is another problem. If you want to get into a good university, you still have to get a high score, or you have to go to tutoring.

As a student, there are few other ways to enter colleges and universities except for the college entrance examination.

If there are multiple ways to enter a higher education institution and can give me other choices, such as learning painting, dancing, learning computer, and other professional skills, I can also enter the higher education institution, then maybe everyone will not be crowded. Go on this one-plank bridge.

Now the child does not make up classes on weekends. After the time is free, we may learn to dance or paint for her, see what she is interested in, and want to enroll in some interest classes to cultivate her interest.

  Will parents choose non-disciplinary training?

Mr. Xiao, Fuzhou parent, head of education and training institution

I entered the education and training industry in 2019. At that time, my friends suggested that I choose the direction of education and training in the subject.

However, the 14 years of study abroad and work and life experience abroad have made me very recognized for the emphasis on character shaping, interest development, self-confidence and anti-frustration ability in comprehensive quality education.

I believe that comprehensive quality education can truly cultivate children's subjective initiative, which is also the original intention and goal of education.

So in the end, I chose the direction of non-disciplinary education and training.

The “Little Master” reporter station and the Little Master Journalism School where I work is a comprehensive practice platform for professionally cultivating “little reporters” literacy. In September 2019, Fuzhou will be implemented separately. The courses include interviewing, writing, illustration, photography, and editing. Wait.

However, in the education market in Fuzhou, parents are not so demanding for quality training. Therefore, our students are currently mainly concentrated in the first to fourth grades of elementary school, which are divided into two types: elementary classes and intermediate classes.

Many people think that the "double reduction" policy is a spring for non-disciplinary training institutions, and this really makes sense.

Because the purpose of the policy is to reduce the burden on children, coupled with new requirements and new restrictions on academic education and training institutions, parents may focus more on non-disciplinary training.

But I think this is not spring in the full sense.

Due to market reasons, there are many leading institutions in the subject education and training industry, and their development is relatively mature, such as New Oriental, Good Future, and so on.

After the introduction of the "double reduction" policy, these institutions have already embarked on a transformation, and may focus on non-disciplinary education and training.

The overall resources, marketing and business capabilities of these head institutions are very advantageous, so the competition in the non-disciplinary education and training industry should become more intense in the future.

The current educational environment will indeed bring greater anxiety to parents, and it is still unknown how students and parents will choose in the future.

My family also has two children, one in fifth grade and one in second grade.

In addition to participating in quality training for young reporters in social practice, piano, and dance, my older child also enrolled in an online mathematics class at a training institution.

Due to the double reduction policy, the schedule of math classes has been adjusted from weekends to midweek evenings.

Because of my personal work, I don’t have much time to accompany my child on weekends, but my child’s current learning status is still good, so I don’t have the idea to ask for a tutor.

The learning method I recognize is to make full use of class time and be good at summarizing learning methods. In addition, I am more willing to help children receive quality training, establish a correct three-view, and give children more autonomy Selected space.

How to arrange children's free time?

Ms. Huang, a teacher at a college in Fuzhou and a second-born mother

I am a university teacher and a mother of two children.

The son is 5 years old and the daughter is one year old.

In the first half of last year, his son was still in the middle class of kindergarten.

I saw the course marketing of an education and training institution on the Internet, and I tried pre-school classes for nine yuan and nine, so I bought it for my children to try.

After the trial, the child felt that the math class was interesting, so he actively asked to continue taking it.

At the same time, he found that his English is still relatively weak, so he is willing to continue to learn English.

The online classes are conducted twice a week, and there are different course times to choose from. It takes half an hour each time, with about 20 students taking it together.

The "double reduction" policy clearly states that it is strictly forbidden to exceed the standard for advanced training, and online training for preschool children is not allowed.

On August 14th, I received a notice of suspension of classes from the training institution, and the math and English classes were suspended.

After receiving the news of the suspension of classes, my son and I explained: "Now the country feels that you, a child, is too young. It's better not to work so hard." He said, in fact, he really wants to go to class and doesn't feel hard.

Children nowadays are different from when we were young.

I didn't make up lessons since I was little, and I played in the village after class.

But now almost all children in the city live in the community, and they don't have such an open space for activities and habits.

In many cases, if he doesn't make up classes, he doesn't seem to have anything else to do, only playing ipad, watching TV and so on, then he will also get bored.

Mathematics courses are okay, but language learning must lay a solid foundation from an early age. This is also my experience in the process of growing up.

The news of "New Oriental Transformation Training Parents" that came out a few days ago is a bit ridiculous, but if there is really no way to go to the training class in the end, then I will choose to teach my children by myself, or maybe go to the parent training class.

In addition to math and English courses, we also enrolled children in some non-disciplinary courses, such as art, tennis, swimming and so on.

Including the kindergarten courses, after the entire course arrangement is over, there is one and a half days left each week. There is no make-up class during the holidays. We can all take our children out to play. I think this time arrangement is just right.

After the online class is suspended, the children are free six nights a week, so our parents should also make time to spend time with the children.

I used to write essays and do courseware in the evening, but now my children have suspended classes, and my evening arrangements have to be adjusted.

I know that the national policy also mentions the need for free online learning services, but from an economic point of view, must free things be good?

The effectiveness of extending after-school service hours, uploading high-quality online course resources, etc., depends on how the follow-up is implemented and what supporting measures are introduced.

"Volume" is very tired, I hope to really "double reduction"

Shanghai parent, child is 6 and a half years old

The children in my family went to elementary school in September this year. Before, they learned English for enlightenment. In addition, swimming, basketball, and online math classes are still ongoing.

Training costs about 80,000 yuan per year.

The main purpose of enrolling in class is to pass the time and learn something by the way.

There are so many make-up classes around, most of the students have 3 to 10 classes.

This seriously affects the parents' own judgment and is very easy to create anxiety.

I have chosen relatively large chain institutions. I have not yet formally attended elementary school. I don’t know how the grades will be. I think there will be some help, but the key lies in whether the children themselves are focused, and the parents should guide the children to nurture them before class. Preview and review habits after class.

The "double reduction" policy has been implemented. It feels very good as a parent. I hope the government can increase its efforts to truly achieve "double reduction" because the "roll" is very tired, I want to rest, and I want to save some money to have a second child.

Parents around me continue to take some classes, but there are few new classes or renewals, and they all take a wait-and-see attitude. I am not worried that it will affect my children's academic performance. The content in the class is well absorbed, and there is no problem with a good exam. of.

I am also waiting to see if we can really reduce the burden to see how the policy will be implemented.

Anxiety is the flame in the minds of parents, and institutions have played a role in adding firewood.

The reason for the crazy training, personally, is that as a mother, I hope that the child will at least not be too bad in the future, and that he can be confident when he goes to school and plays with his peers.

But in fact, I am very confused. Judging from my own life experience, children who grow up crazily seem to be more worrying, such as physical health, character, teamwork, parent-child relationship and so on.

Will I continue to "make up lessons" in the future, I tend to follow the trend, but I will also observe other families. In addition, after school starts in September, I will check my children's learning ability and judge the acceptance of primary school life. Do not rule out the possibility of make-up lessons.

"Prepaid the off-campus training fee, worrying that the money will not be refunded"

Ms. Xiao, Guangzhou parent, third grade child

I will choose to apply for off-campus training in some disadvantaged subjects for my children, which costs a few thousand dollars per subject per semester.

The "involution" is very serious now, and some parents spend tens of thousands of dollars a year on it.

Everyone is making up lessons. If you don't make up, you will feel that your child is at a disadvantage.

Many parents actually over-consume, but there is no way, everyone is like this, so in the end it gets worse and worse.

Even the children themselves are anxious, and when they go home, they say, "Who in the class reports what class".

There are also factors of school teachers, who will also appraise excellent students and want their students to do well, so they hint that parents or students make up lessons.
