The quarter-finals of the World Cup are no longer satisfactory for greedy Lions.

After four eliminations at this stage of the competition, Senegal wants to take a step forward this year in Moscow.

All the players have in mind the objective of reaching the semi-finals for the first time in our history

," captain Al Seyni Ndiaye told RFI.

“

We have nothing more to prove in Africa after three consecutive CAN wins.

Now is the time to show our strength at the global level

, ”warns the one who has been elected six times best goalkeeper of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Good luck to the Senegal 🇸🇳 Beach Soccer National Team which begins today its #BeachSoccerWC 🏆 and a good tournament to our two players selected in this team, defender Mamadou Sylla and junior striker Seydina Mandione Diagne.

The six-fold African champions will

meet in the group stage the reigning Portuguese world champions who eliminated them in the

quarter-finals two years ago

.

If the first place in this group D seems difficult to obtain, the Lions will be able to speak about their experience to finish second in front of Uruguay, quarter-finalist in 2019 after missing four editions, and Oman who has never left the pools in three participations.

Brazil in perspective

Such a scenario could, however, once again lead to a very complicated quarter-final against Brazil, the most successful selection, crowned in 2017, and great favorite to finish at the top of its group C.

Before this possible shock, the Senegalese will have to start their competition against Uruguay, this Friday, August 20, unlike the Mozambican novices beaten by Spain this Thursday (8-4).
