While firefighters are still fighting against the gigantic fire in the Var, outbreaks are multiplying on the Mediterranean coast and in particular in the Hérault.

The department's firefighters had to fight on three fronts on Wednesday.

The most important outbreak occurred at 13:42 in the low garrigue of the municipalities of Villeveyrac and Saint-Pargoire.

"The area is still under surveillance this Thursday morning (...) but the fire was fixed around 11:30 pm", indicates at

20 minutes

the departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis 34).

The flames, fanned by a swirling wind, devastated some 400 hectares of vegetation.

They mobilized nearly 250 firefighters, including a column from Bouches-du-Rhône who came as reinforcements.

No homes were affected but two firefighters were slightly injured in the intervention.

Another fire, reported at 1 p.m. on Wednesday covered 80 hectares near Nissan-Lez-Anzérune.

A third who also declared at midday burned 14 hectares of pine forest in the Almes sector.

During this critical period, firefighters call on residents to be vigilant and to dial 112 at the slightest suspicious smoke.
