A large segment of the audience following the artist, Sherif Desouki, waited for his first artistic appearance in a work on the ground, after his leg was amputated due to a health crisis he suffered, finally, and almost threatened his career to stop.

Indeed, Sharif appeared in a live artwork on the stage through the play “Yama in the Grab Ya Hawi”, in which he plays a starring role alongside the star Yahya Al-Fakharani, Carmen Suleiman, Iyad Nassar, Muhammad Al-Sharnoubi and Nasser Seif, and the work is directed by Majdi Al-Hawari.

Sherif Desouky appeared during the events of the play as a man who rests on crutches to help him walk, and who enjoys a subtle spirit of shadow and wisdom at the same time.

Co-stars in the play said, "The appearance of Sherif Desouki in this way, with his boldness and courage, is a wonderful position that defeats any sorrows, health or psychological crises."

While Sherif Desouky said in the press conference, which was held on the sidelines of the play that was shown, the day before yesterday, in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, that he is "very happy with this work and with his return to the stage, as he is the son of a theater in fact and in principle, and the theater has a great advantage over him."

He indicated that he was not planning to participate in any artistic work during his previous crisis, but the producer and director of the work, Majdi Al-Hawari, went to him while he was in the hospital, and offered him to work hard and had such enthusiasm that he said: “I will contract with you now on a theatrical show, and I know that you will achieve great success.” And you will be responsible.”

Desouki continued, "He challenged himself and his health condition so that his role came out in a good way that suits all the love and welcome he was met with at work, and this is the reason why he immediately agreed to participate, regardless of the obstacles and difficulties."

While director Magdy El-Hawary revealed that Yehia El-Fakharani was the first to be excited about Desouky's presence in the play.

He said: "As soon as I thought about nominating Sherif Desouki, I spoke with the artist Yahya Al-Fakhrani as a doctor before he was an artist, and I presented the matter to him and found him rejoicing, and in seconds he asked me to quickly contact and contract with Desouky."

Al-Fakhrani added to Al-Hawari: "As a doctor, I see that treating the actor at work, and I am confident that Sharif will be responsible, and the work will increase his luster and return him to his artistic life."

Al-Hawari continued: “Al-Fakharani confirmed that he sees Desouki in the first place as a great actor and admires him, and the theatrical character is part of him, and he is an actor who has great energy and was surprised by Desouki’s welcome to work, especially since Al-Fakharani believes that art restores health to the artist if he is sick, Everyone is sick and the artist is only right by work.”

Atmosphere of "One Thousand and One Nights"

“Yama in the Jarab Ya Hawi” is a musical comedy show based on the atmosphere of “The Nights of a Thousand and One Nights”, and it is based on a novel by Bayram Al-Tunisi, directed by Majdi Al-Hawari, and implemented with the latest theatrical techniques.

The work is shown in Alexandria for 10 days, then its makers will return to start showing it on a theater in Cairo soon.
