Reached 71.2% of the target population (over 12 years) with the complete schedule of the vaccine against Covid-19, the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, has indicated that, in addition to continuing to encourage vaccination, now It is time to work to rescue the most vulnerable groups that have not yet been vaccinated, especially those over 40 years of age without any dose or without completing the regimen.

This was indicated in the meeting of the plenary session of the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS) that was held today.

At this meeting, Darias explains that 82.8% of the target population already has a dose, as revealed by the data from the latest vaccination report. Good news if it weren't for the fact that, for a couple of months now, immunologists and vaccinologists say that 70% no longer serves to achieve group immunity. With the appearance of the delta variant, 90% is necessary.

In pursuit of this objective, as the minister has advanced, this week the autonomous communities receive 4.7 million doses of mRNA vaccines (3.4 from Pfizer and 1.3 from Moderna), as a result of the increase in vaccines in this month of August announced by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. In this sense, the Minister has publicly recognized the work that the Health teams are doing and has encouraged them to continue encouraging the vaccination campaign,

opening new points without prior appointment for all people who wish to be vaccinated

and with self-

appointment

systems, as already the autonomous communities are implemented.

In today's meeting, several communities explained that they have begun to advance the vaccination of people who have had the disease, compared to the six months initially planned.

Likewise, Health teams are working to rescue the most vulnerable groups that have not yet been vaccinated, especially those over 40 years of age without any dose or without completing the regimen.

As for the

third doses

, according to regional health sources, next week it will be announced which guideline will be taken.

The Public Health Commission and the Vaccine Conference will take into account the announcements made by the EMA on August 23 to update the vaccination strategy in accordance with what the European agency stipulates.

The challenge is the active recruitment to inoculate second doses to those people who have not received notice

, for any circumstance, or have delayed the appointment in their Community because they are in a vacation destination. In addition, REGVACU's information systems are prepared to record the data of the people who have received the vaccine doses in different communities.

At the meeting, several communities explained that they have begun to advance the vaccination of people who have had the disease, compared to the six months initially planned.

Likewise, Health teams are working to rescue the most vulnerable groups that have not yet been vaccinated, especially those over 40 years of age without any dose or without completing the regimen.

Along these lines, Darias highlights, the general rate of vaccination is allowing Spain to be

among the 10 countries in the world with the highest percentage of population with at least one dose

.

Incidence remains high

The epidemiological situation was another of the points to be discussed at the meeting.

According to the latest data, the Accumulated Incidence (AI) in 14 days of Covid-19 reached its maximum in this latest epidemic wave in the last week of July and since then a stable and progressive decrease in the number of cases reported daily has been observed.

The 14-day AI as of yesterday was 399 cases per 100,000 residents

, compared to 528 last week.

In other words, there has been a reduction of almost 25%.

The downward trend is observed in all age groups.

The youngest, from 12 to 19 and from 20 to 29 years old, continue to present much higher incidences than the rest of the population, given that they have lower vaccination coverage.

The AI in 14 days is around 800 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Despite the general downward trend, the

Ministry of Health acknowledges that the incidence observed is still very high

, which leads to high occupations both in general hospitalization (7.8%) and in Intensive Care Units (20.7%), although there is a slight decrease in these data compared to last week.

The current hospitalization is 2.5% of the cases, which if compared with the wave after Christmas, the figure was 7.1%.

In the case of UCIS, 0.2% currently enter versus 0.7% in the same period mentioned.

And, 0.1% die compared to 1.7% previously.

More than 19 million Covid certificates

On the other hand, once the transitional period marked by the European Regulation has ended, after which the issuance of the Covid Digital Certificate (CCD) is a right for all European citizens, the minister has informed the councilors of the CISNS about the Current situation.

In Spain, he assured at the meeting, 19.65 million certificates have already been issued, of which 18.88 are for vaccination;

428,484, of recovery and 341,031, of diagnostic test.
