  • Covid-19 Sanchez's vaccination goal fails due to his management chaos

  • Health Countdown to 70% milestone, five million second doses in nine days

Spain already

has 30,261,332 people immunized, 63.8% of the total population

as pointed out by Health in its latest report. A lower figure than expected by the Pedro Sánchez Government at this point in August. If only the number of possible vaccinates is observed, the data changes, since it amounts to 71.8% of the people who are candidates to be immunized. That is, Spaniards over 12 years old, 42,119,827, out of the total of 47,450,795, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) to which the Ministry refers in daily statistics.

Carolina Darias, Minister of Health, highlighted that 71.8% of the target population, but

the Government's plans have always spoken of protecting the entire population

within the concept of group immunity,

including those under 12 years of age

(even without the possibility of being vaccinated). In addition, the Health Minister announced today at the Interterritorial Council the arrival this week of 4.7 million doses of mRNA vaccines (3.4 from Pfizer and 1.3 from Moderna). A high amount to give a new boost to the vaccination rate. Yesterday 469,973 doses were given, of which 293,029 were used to complete the regimen, more than half.

In recent weeks, the 'cruising speed' has decreased.

Thus,

2,265,997 doses have been punctured since last Wednesday

, 2,274,116 were

punctured from

August 4 to 11 and 2,467,679 between July 28 and August 4.

A decrease that combines several factors: vacation period, fewer available doses and the infected population waiting to comply with the periods of between eight weeks (in some autonomous communities) and six months as established by the Health Vaccination Strategy.

It should be noted that

nine out of ten Spaniards over 40 years of age already have protection

against SARS-CoV-2.

The age groups with the most coverage, above 95%, are all those over 60 years of age and with 92.5% between 50 and 59 years of age.

The

advancement among the youngest is also significant

.

Since July 28, the figures among the youngest have risen from 15.5% and 2.1% between 20-29 and 12-19 years, respectively, to 35.8% and 9.3% .

This has meant going from 2,872,664 Spaniards under 39 years of age immunized at the end of July to

5,773,151 today

.
