This Tuesday, as we can read from our colleagues from France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, the ecological mayor of Lyon (Rhône) reacted to Emmanuel Macron's announcements concerning the situation in Afghanistan and said he was ready to welcome refugees in his city.

“Lyon will respond to France's duty of humanity and is ready to welcome the Afghans who seek refuge in France and will arrive on our soil in the coming days.

Emmanuel Macron, we have the capacity to welcome with dignity, ”declared Grégory Doucet on social networks, responding to a message from the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

This position was immediately supported by Bruno Bernard, the president of the metropolis, who called on Twitter for France to play “fully its role as a land of asylum for Afghans threatened by the Taliban”.

“The Metropolis will be alongside the State to help with the emergency accommodation of these exiles,” he added.
