"I am the Ramses", Peter Ramsauer introduces himself when greeting him.

That's what the people in Berchtesgadener Land call him.

Unlike the Egyptian king to whom the nickname refers, Ramsauer still has to fight for his election in the fall.

Ramsauer has been in the Bundestag for 31 years and will run for the ninth time this fall.

And again he would like to win the direct mandate.

Chances are, last time he won with 50 percent of the vote.

He toured his constituency with us for one day.

Talks with conservationists and dairymen about local problems and the big politics in Berlin, from which Ramsauer always distances himself a bit.

At the same time he is the king of extra income in the CSU, he holds many positions in addition to his parliamentary mandate.
