The seven-day incidence of coronavirus continues to rise.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) this Tuesday morning, it was 37.4 nationwide.

The previous day the value was 36.2, a week ago 23.5.

Hamburg (78.3), Berlin (66.2) and North Rhine-Westphalia (58.8) have the highest incidences;

With 8.5, Thuringia is the only federal state with a single-digit value.

The health authorities in Germany reported 3912 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

A week ago, the value for Germany was 2480 infections.

The incidence has so far been the basis for many corona restrictions in the pandemic, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June.

In the future, other values such as hospital admissions are to be taken into account to a greater extent.

28 new deaths

According to the new information, 28 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with the Sars-CoV-2 virus rose to 91,899.

A week ago there were 19 deaths.

The RKI has counted 3,827,051 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,684,700.

Family doctors ready to vaccinate more teenagers

After the new vote of the Standing Vaccination Commission (STIKO) on corona vaccinations for all children from the age of twelve, the medical practices see themselves prepared for a possible higher demand.

The chairman of the general practitioner association, Ulrich Weigeldt, told the newspapers of the Funke media group: "Pediatric and general practitioners' practices are available for young people who are willing to vaccinate, even if demand increases."

Weigeldt criticized the fact that politics had put pressure on the STIKO.

“We have always emphasized that science decides when sufficient knowledge is available to offer young people a vaccination.

There was no need for any pressure from politicians. ”When it came to vaccinations for children from the age of twelve, politicians had pushed ahead and triggered a discussion.

The STIKO had spoken out in favor of general corona vaccinations for all children from the age of twelve. After careful evaluation of the new data, the assessment has now come “that, according to the current state of knowledge, the advantages of vaccination outweigh the risk of very rare vaccine side effects,” the independent committee announced on Monday. Before that, she had only recommended corona vaccinations for children between 12 and 17 years of age if they were at higher risk of severe disease, for example due to diseases such as diabetes.

According to STIKO, vaccinations of healthy adolescents were also possible with medical advice as an individual decision for children and parents. The federal and state health ministers agreed on broader vaccination offers for children at the beginning of August, for example in regional vaccination centers. According to the RKI, 24.3 percent of 12 to 17-year-olds have been vaccinated against corona at least once and 15.1 percent have been completely vaccinated.
