The remake of

A Star is Born

directed by Bradley Cooper with Lady Gaga may have had both critical and popular success, Barbra Streisand has a more than mixed view of the film.

"I thought it was a bad idea," the 79-year-old star said straight away during an appearance on

The Sunday Project

.

“Look, it was a big success.

I have no complaints about that.

But success interests me much less than originality, ”she added.

For Barbra Streisand, it's very simple, Bradley Cooper failed to breathe new life into the 1976 film in which she gave the answer to Kris Kristofferson and which, it must be remembered, was already a remake.

This story had indeed conquered the public twice, first in 1937, with the original film by David O. Selznick, and with that of Moss Hart released in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason.

Barbra Streisand dreamed of something else for the latest version.

Beyoncé rather than Lady Gaga

“It should have been with Will Smith and Beyoncé,” continued the star, recalling that Queen Bey had accepted the role in 2011 before becoming pregnant with her daughter Blue Ivy.

At the time, it was planned that the realization would be entrusted to Clint Eastwood and the role of Bradley Cooper should have fallen to Will Smith.

“I thought… it's interesting.

You know, to do something even different - a different style of music, and something inclusive at the actor level.

So I was surprised when I saw how it looked like the version I played in 1976, ”said Barbra Streisand.
